Additionally, some caterpillars of desert moths dig tunnels into saguaro cacti. Instead of the wider hole observed on a saguaro boot, the dried callus that results from their tunnels has a flattened disk structure where the caterpillar emerges. [1]

Nest Description
Large football-shaped nests with tunnel-shaped entrances are constructed by male and female cactus wrens. The duo gathers coarse grass and plant fibers to make a 6 ounce nest that is about 7 inches in diameter and 12 inches long. The entrance is extremely tiny—just big enough for the parents to fit through, but also tiny enough to keep out the majority of potential predators. It frequently requires a “doorstep” or perch near the entranceway because the tiny opening may even be too small for a soaring bird to enter readily. The entrance to the nest opens up after you’re inside. Feathers from the birds line the interior of the nest.
