How To Watercolor A Cactus

I’m convinced that by this point you are an expert, so this final task will be simple.

Step 1

Consider a circular shape; you can also pencil it in if you choose, as I did. Paint a crescent shape starting on the left. After a pause, add another section of paint. The third part then has another gap and is painted. A final crescent shape facing the other direction followed by one more gap. Make an effort to trace the circle’s arc.

Step 3

Can you predict what comes next? Yup. earth and the pot. Pick out your favorite brown color and use it to paint the pot form. I like to paint this one such that she appears to be snuggled up inside of her pot. Along the sides and middle parts, add a little darkness and some needles (V shapes and basic lines). Add spatter, then finish!

Your quartet can be set up however you desire. Or just arrange them in a pleasing pattern. Take ownership of it and delight in your new cactus friends! Hope this was of some use. See you again soon!
