Fill your palette with hookers green and vivid yellow green. Keep in mind that hookers green is semi-opaque while dazzling yellow green is opaque. This step won’t require any white.
First, focus on the cactus on the left. Fill your #12 flat brush with vivid yellow green paint. Start at the top and drag your brush downward to construct the shape when painting these cactus. As you lower your arm, your stroke should start to feel dry. It’s not necessary for the cacti to be completely opaque. Let a little of that black show. As a result, the cactus can have some texture and take on a chalkboard appearance. Also note that the front of this cactus is still unpainted because it overlaps the two back ones.
Then place your brush in the hookers green (without rinsing). Repeat the strokes, dragging from the top down and giving the paint time to dry between each one. Blend the two greens together, but not completely. You need to obtain a lovely unmixed combination of lighter and deeper green.
Then carry out the same procedure with the cactus’ front section. To make this portion appear a little bit brighter, I believe I added a little bit more dazzling yellow green.
After that, draw lines on the cactus with the #4 round brush and the shade hookers green. This deeper green ought to be visible enough to be seen. Drag the stroke downward starting at the top of the cactus. On each of the barrels of this potted cactus, I painted four or five curved lines.
