The key to happy succulents is to as closely as possible mimic their natural growing environments. The easier you can accomplish this, up to a point, the more you understand where a succulent originates. It’s occasionally (rarely) so difficult. Saguaros don’t survive outside of the Sonoran Desert, where they spread like weeds, no matter what you do. However, the majority of other succulents can grow everywhere, independent of their place of birth.
