Build a box first that is 8 blocks long, 7 blocks wide, and 3 blocks high using glass blocks (dimensions are 8x7x3).
Dig out one of the sides that is 8 glass block wide
Next, move to a side that is 8 blocks wide and create a 6 block wide hole as seen in the illustration below.
Digging should continue until the hole like this:
Place Cobblestone above the Water
Cobblestone must then be positioned over the water. Starting with 2 cobblestone blocks against the glass is a good idea because this is tough.
the block of cobblestone closest to the glass should then be broken. The one pebble will then appear to be floating above the water as a result of this.
When you are finished, there should be 4 cobblestone blocks altogether, but you will have placed 8 cobblestone and broken 4 of them.
Place a Nether Brick Wall above (and between each set of cactus)
You must now add a block, such as a subterranean brick wall, above and in the middle of each group of cacti. Since this is tough, start by putting the front brick wall first and the outer brick wall on top of the cactus.
When you are finished, there should be 2 nether brick walls in place, however you will have erected 4 nether brick walls and destroyed 2 of them.
Cactus Farm is ready!
Your cactus farm should now be complete and resemble the image below:
Let’s now describe how this farm operates. The top of a cactus will split off as it grows. The cactus fragment will fall into the water, travel with the water current to the hoppers, and then be placed in one of the chests by the hoppers.

Cactus farms: good or bad?
Cacti are routinely planted and then harvested in cactus farming. Due to their high XP output when smelted, cactus farms are excellent for obtaining green dye by smelting the cactus blocks or for storing experience in a furnace. However, in Bedrock Edition, they do not create nearly as much XP when smelted. Sand and water supply blocks can be cleverly positioned to create fascinating, practical, and efficient agricultural layouts.
Needs water for cactus farm?
Gather some sand first anywhere you can. Since it is most prevalent and abundant in deserts, you shouldn’t have any trouble providing a sizable amount of sand. The cactus must then be located. Finding cactus in a desert should not take very long if you are collecting sand there. Deserts and badlands biomes are home to cacti. You can also locate potted cactus in basement igloos if there are none nearby.
Make sure to strike the cactus’ base. Cacti will destroy any item that falls on top of them, so try to keep your priceless stuff far away from the cactus itself. If you hit the tops, they may fall over themselves. You can gather some sand while you are close to the cactus. Plan properly for the size of your cactus farm since each block of sand will hold one cactus plant.
No other block may be put next to a cactus. A cactus must have a place in each of the four cardinal directions.
You must space out your cacti a block apart from one another if you wish to build a large-scale cactus farm. Additionally, you’ll need a little additional room to maneuver around and stop existing cacti from colliding with one another when you split it apart.
It will take a grid of cacti blocks with an air block in between each one to arrange them in the most effective way possible. Cacti can be planted without sunlight, water, or tilled soil.
What digs up cacti the quickest?
Only sand, red sand, or another cactus block may be used to place a cactus block. If any block made of a solid substance or lava occupies any of the four horizontally adjacent blocks, the cactus splits (and falls as an object). It also crumbles when placed on sand and the block above is made of lava or water.
Every 0.5 seconds, one damage is taken when a cactus is touched by any entity, including players and mobs. Armor lessens damage from touching a cactus, but touching one also harms the armor. Cacti are not avoided by hordes when they pathfind.
Any object that comes into contact with a cactus, even another cactus in item form, is destroyed. When falling blocks like sand and gravel hit a cactus, they become item form rather than being destroyed (as happens when it falls into any block with a hitbox that has a height less than 1, such as slabs). The cactus in this instance will occasionally (but not always) decimate the thing that was made. Even if the falling block is a cactus (which is conceivable with /summon), the conversion to an item still holds true.
A minecart that runs into a cactus block drops as an item and is frequently destroyed, though a hopper can pick it up more quickly.
A cactus measures 78 of a block in width (equal to chests) and a whole block in height, although the collision box is 1516 of a block high (excluding the spikes).
How much time does it take cacti to grow?
An eye-catching and intriguing addition to your decor can be made by a cactus plant, especially if it is rather large. Larger cactus, however, are scarce.
Due to adaptations for thriving in their natural desert habitat, cactus plants naturally grow considerably more slowly than most plants. A giant cactus houseplant is astonishing not just for its appearance but also for the dedication and effort needed to grow that big.
You may be wondering how quickly cactus plants grow if you own one but it doesn’t seem to be growing as quickly as your other houseplants.
The majority of cactus plant varieties develop slowly. Depending on the species, they may only reach a height of a few centimeters if grown from seed after the first two or three years. With a few notable exceptions that can occasionally grow up to 15cm each year, most cactus plants will grow from there at a rate of roughly 1-3cm per year.
Some of the lowest care plants you may choose to cultivate in your house are cactus plants, but this comes at the cost of requiring a lot of patience.
Can cacti produce bone meal?
Players can also farm bonemeal in Minecraft, just like they can virtually any other material. In Minecraft, there are three ways to farm bonemeals: manually, semi-automatically, and automatically. Automated farms are the most effective and self-sufficient of these three.
The growth rate of all kinds of saplings and crops is accelerated by bonemeal. It can also be used by players to create white dyes. In Minecraft, players can use a composter to transform various plant species and associated objects into bonemeal. Composting and cacti are used in this farm concept to create bonemeal.
How much XP does cactus smelting yield?
The harvest from any of numerous automatic crop farms can be fed into an automatic smelter, and the experience produced can be claimed whenever you need it.
There are only a few beneficial crops here, mainly those that can be grown automatically:
- Kelp offers minimal experience (6.4 XP/stack), but it can be smelted into smelter fuel and left over for other purposes.
- More experience is gained from potatoes (22.4 XP/stack), and cooked potatoes are a reliable mid-tier food source that yield more bonemeal when composted than raw potatoes.
- Although chickens can be automatically bred, killed, and produced a continuous supply of chicken meat, manually slaughtering them will provide you more experience with any given quantity of birds. In contrast, a continuously operating farm (which kills but does not cook the chickens) can get by with having fewer birds alive at any given moment. However, having a big number of chicks around waiting to grow up might also cause a lot of lag for the game.
- Compared to the other plants, cactus offers significantly more experience (64 XP/stack), but unlike the others, it cannot be cooked in a smoker, and the dye that results serves only to turn things green. To dispose of the dye, plans must be established for a large-scale smelting setup.
List enables for the storage of greater amounts of experience without having to harvest it all at once, which also speeds up progress for big smelter farms as the load can be split among numerous furnaces that can be harvested separately (so long as the input farm can keep up). Nearly two stacks of cacti (120 items) can be burned with a straightforward single-furnace setup in a single Minecraft day, earning 360 XP per actual hour. Kelp and potatoes both burn twice as quickly but produce less experience per hour, giving out 252 and 72 XP, respectively. Naturally, to sustain this rate over an extended period of time, an input farm must be large enough to provide 120 or 240 items every day, and this requirement is compounded for multi-furnace configurations.
The player can supply fuel in large quantities, but it is also possible to automatically fuel the farm using a bamboo farm or a charcoal smelter, possibly fueled by a tree farm. For every stack of wood fed to an automatic charcoal smelter, it can smelt 7 stacks of material. Dried kelp blocks are more efficient, requiring just 20 input stacks (11 if we don’t count the kelp blocks required to smelt more kelp) per stack, although their production does involve manual labor. For every stack of material to be smelted, there needs to be four stacks of bamboo available from a large enough bamboo farm.
If continuous fueling is not feasible, the amount of fuel loaded into the farm can be used to determine the projected yield.
For instance, it takes the majority of four real-time hours for a cactus smelter loaded with 70 kelp blocks to produce enough experience to raise a player from level 0 to level 30 using a single furnace (3h 52.5m). Despite being more slower than fishing, smelters can be left to work without the player present, whereas fishing requires the player to be present (in any loaded chunks).
Does growing cacti in bedrock work?
