If your succulents are damaged by frost, only remove collapsed leaves if it’s likely that they’ll stay damp and decompose. Leave them on, though, and prune in the spring if they will protect the plant from subsequent frost. — Avoid cutting straight across tip-burned leaves on slender-leaved succulents (like agaves and aloes) in order to preserve their geometric shape. — Just put it down to experience. Can succulents recover after a freeze?

What should I use to protect my succulents from frost?

You could just require frost cloth if you live somewhere where frost is sporadic. (Old bed sheets also function.) This helps keep warm air from dispersing into the higher atmosphere and stops ice crystals from falling from the atmosphere from falling on plants. Don’t cover your succulents with plastic sheets that resemble trash bags; whatever material you use should let air to circulate. If plants are covered for extended periods of time, translucent cloth is a must. However, removing the frost cloth throughout the day is ideal.

Floating row covers made by Agribon and Pellon nonwoven fabric can both be used. Spun nylon, often known as “floating row cover,” is similar to fusible interfacing but lacks the fusible component. It can be used as a sunscreen, insect barrier (against cabbage moths, etc.), and frost protection. It is permeable to water and allows vapor to pass through. It will provide protection from -2 to -4 degrees below zero. Use C-9 Christmas light strings for added warmth.
Succulents that are in pots can be covered or moved to an overhang till spring. Depending on how cold it gets, beneath your home’s eaves or on a deck or patio (near the house) may be sufficient. The warmth that walls give out may be sufficient to elevate the temperature above freezing.
Consider purchasing a compact walk-in greenhouse that can be disassembled and stored during the warmer months if you live somewhere where the temperature drops into the 20s. Put it in a location where a portable electric heater’s cord may reach from your home.
If you must (or choose to) keep your succulents inside for the winter, equip a basement, sunroom, spare room, or alcove with shelves and tables that can handle wetness as well as timer-controlled lights and a fan. Fortunately, the bulk of dormant succulents—those that fall dormant in the winter—need relatively little water. Every three weeks or so, dribble a small amount at the base of each plant, just enough to water the roots but not enough to create pools on the ground.

What does succulent frostbite look like?

Before a freeze, should you water succulents?

Your succulents will probably require more frequent watering if they are winter growers (like Aeoniums).
Desiccation affects a lot of plants during the winter. This occurs when a plant evaporates more water than it can take in through its roots. We thoroughly water evergreen plants before really cold temperatures to help prevent harm (once the ground freezes, the plants cannot absorb water but continue to lose it). With succulents, avoid doing this. They enjoy receiving the incorrect care. You want the soil around your succulents to be as dry as possible when it becomes cold outside.
Winter and dry soil are obviously incompatible (only possible if your plants are in a covered area). Therefore, winter is also the time when having adequate drainage in your soil is most crucial.
You should continue to water your plants less frequently until the spring, when new growth should start to appear on your plants. Even though it may still be cold outside, your succulent plants will benefit from more water as they begin to grow once more.
I have succulents, when should I bring them inside?
Since most succulents are accustomed to hot, arid environments, they are particularly hard hit by winter’s frigid temperatures.
Some succulents, like Aloe, Echeveria, and Crassula, require frost protection when the temperature falls below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The majority of the other species can endure temperatures higher than 40 °F.

Consider relocating your succulents under a roof or placing a clear rain cover at least 18.0″ above them if you experience cold, wet winters without snow.
When may I return my succulents to the outdoors?
Before anything else, when is it too early to plant new succulents outside?
In general, waiting until after the last frost and when the nights don’t get below 40F is advised. Even while you could grow certain succulents outside before then, planting is most successful in warmer climates.
However, avoid waiting until the summer because the heat can be just as problematic as the cold. When planting your succulents outside, look for temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do my succulents belong outside?

Can succulents withstand the cold?

Take it up
Moving plants away from potential danger is the simplest cold-protection strategy. Potted plants and seedlings in flats both benefit from this. Moving plants onto a porch with a roof, into a garage or shed, or under a deck frequently provides sufficient shelter.
Rely on Water
Just before sunset, water the soil to raise the temperature of the surrounding air overnight as the water evaporates. Water-filled buckets or gallon jugs should be left in the sun all day. Row covers, or gardening blankets, should always be accessible. These covers are created in various thicknesses from plastic or synthetic fibers. Lay row covers directly on the plants, or suspend them over a bed with pegs to form a tunnel.
Activate lights
An incandescent light bulb produces enough heat to raise the temperature of the air around it just enough to keep a plant from freezing. For this method to operate, bulbs must be close to plants (within a distance of 2-3 feet). (Fluorescent bulbs can’t produce enough heat to complete this task.)

Set up hot caps
At planting time, stiff plastic containers with venting holes are placed over the individual seedlings. Hot caps function similarly to cloches (small greenhouses), but the daily task of applying and removing the covering is eliminated by venting holes. Use plastic two-liter bottles or gallon jugs with the bottoms cut off and the lids removed to simulate a hot cap (but saved). In the evenings when the weather turns chilly, replace the lids.
A Wall O’Water tepee, which encircles individual plants with a sleeve of water-filled tubes, is a variation on the hot cap concept. During the day, the water absorbs the heat of the sun. The water gently freezes at night, releasing the sun’s stored radiant heat and preventing the air within the tepee from becoming frosty.
