Do I need to put rocks in the bottom of a planter?

One thing I did know was that putting rocks in the bottom of your plant pots is a good idea when potting up a plant.

A gorgeous layer of rocks, pebbles, styrofoam, or broken up terracotta pots is the first thing you put in your plant pot.

At general, placing rocks in the bottom of plant pots is unnecessary. One rock to cover the drainage hole is sufficient — just enough to keep the soil from leaching out of the bottom while allowing water to freely flow through the pot. Rocks in plant pots do not help with drainage or air circulation.

Can I use regular potting soil for snake plant?
