Pothos is a tropical understory plant that requires warm temperatures and a shady to largely shady setting, such as a site with little dappled morning sun. Pothos plants thrive in temperatures ranging from 70 to 90 degrees F (21-32 degrees C) with heavy humidity.

Using plastic two-liter bottles or gallon jugs with the bottoms cut off and lids removed, make the equivalent of a hot cap (but saved). When the weather becomes cold, replace the lids at night.
A Wall O’Water tepee, which encircles individual plants with a sleeve of water-filled tubes, is a variation on the hot cap notion. During the day, the water absorbs the heat of the sun. As the water gently freezes at night, it releases the sun’s stored radiant heat, keeping the air within the tepee frost-free.
