While we all appreciate cleaner, oxygenated air, peace lilies are also popular because to their ease of maintenance, hardiness, and forgiving character.
What does a peace lily leaf look like?
Plants with glossy, dark green oval leaves that thin to a point are known as peace lilies. The leaves emerge from the ground. These plants also produce beautiful white flowers that mimic calla lilies on a regular basis. The long-lasting flowers begin as a pale green color and gradually change to a creamy white color as they open.
Is there a mini peace lily?
The dwarf peace lily is a 12- to 15-inch tall, erect plant (Fig. 1). The dwarf peace lily’s allure comes from its gleaming, dark green foliage. The puckered veins on these 10-inch-long, arching leaves give them a rippling or puckered appearance. A spadix borne in front of a beautiful white spathe is densely packed with little, chalk white flowers. These flowers bloom in the spring and are followed by berry-like fruits that are generally unnoticeable.

Flowers
When these plants are blossoming, it’s relatively easy to tell them apart. In full bloom, the spathes of a Peace Lily are usually white, whereas the spathes of Anthuriums can be vibrant colours of red, purple, or pink. One of the reasons they’re called Flamingo Flowers is because of this.
Anthurium spathes, unlike Peace Lilies, have a waxy feel and a dazzling gloss. In addition, unlike Anthuriums, Peace Lily spathes do not often lay at right angles to the spadix. Spathiphyllum, on the other hand, cradles its array of small florets in a curved, upright spathe.
Foliage
A Spathiphyllum’s leaves are usually thinner and more ovoid than a Flamingo Flower’s. Anthurium leaves vary greatly in shape, but most are roughly heart-shaped, with two broad curves reaching back from the petiole’s junction.
Peace Lilies have a bit of a reputation for being drama queens, since they frequently slump and droop when thirsty, as if trying to pull at your emotions. Anthuriums, on the other hand, aren’t prone to such antics.
But there’s a word of warning. Some inexperienced growers believe that you should wait until a Peace Lily wilts before watering it, but if you do this on a regular basis, your plant will get stressed and damaged. It’s usually best to test the soil on a regular basis and water when the top inch or so becomes dry.

Propagation
Many aroid houseplants are fairly resilient, and stem cuttings can be used to multiply them. Anthuriums are a good example; when rooted in the correct growing medium, even a small part of their main stalks can grow into vigorous plants. Peace Lilies, on the other hand, lack the robust, woody stem of a Flamingo Flower, thus you won’t be able to achieve this.
Both species, however, produce discrete clusters of stalks that, when separated from the main root ball, can produce new clones. This method is simpler than propagation from cuttings in certain aspects. Often, no tools are required; simply uproot the plant, pull it apart by hand, and repot each component separately.
Habitat
Don’t look up if you’re looking for a Peace Lily in the tropical rainforests where many aroid plants call home. A Spathiphyllum is more likely to be found growing along the edge of a bog or a stream than high in a tree. These plants can climb to great heights if necessary, but it is not their preferred mode of transportation.
Anthuriums, on the other hand, frequently seek out high ground. Only a few species thrive in the watery settings that Peace Lilies enjoy. But don’t use this as an excuse to overwater your Spathiphyllum. There is no such thing as too much water for your Peace Lily in a container, and there is absolutely such a thing as too much water for your Peace Lily in a swampy jungle.
Where should I place a peace lily in my house?
Peace lilies prefer indirect light and shade, so they’re perfect for indoor gardens. They’ve even been found to thrive in workplaces with no windows and fluorescent lighting! The finest windows for peace lilies are those that face south or west and provide the perfect amount of light. If it gets too much light, your peace lily will notify you: Yellow leaves suggest that there is too much light, while brown streaks show that the leaves have been scorched by direct sunshine. If your peace lily’s leaves show these indicators, it’s time to move it.
