Ethanol Hedera extract 2.5-7.5 ml/kg wt (25 l, 50 l, and 75 l each animal) was given i.p. to Group B, C, and D test mice, respectively. As a reference medicine, Group E animals were given 100 mg/kg diclofenac. Because diclofenac is a nonsteriodal antiinflammatory medication, it was chosen. In experimental animal models, diclofenac has been shown to reduce inflammation caused by a variety of phlogistic agents. For its antiinflammatory and analgesic properties, diclofenac is often used in the treatment or management of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. By reducing prostaglandin synthesis and/or production, diclofenac lowers inflammation, edema, and arthritic pain.
