Episode 18 of Season 3 of Pretty Little Liars “The underlying theme of Dead to Me was heartbreak, along with some hypnosis. Tonight’s episode was packed with frowns—and the occasional scream—from Aria spending her days lying in Ezra’s bed waiting for the phone to ring to Caleb’s visit to his boyhood home.
Priorities first Jason gently prepared for the girls to say their final goodbyes to Ali at the neighborhood mausoleum when they returned to Rosewood with Ali’s bones. However, not everyone was excited to say goodbye to Ali again again. Instead, Spencer reasoned that she was too busy spending time with her former private eye turned therapist and learning that Toby had purchased a number of hydrangeas prior to leaving town. Perhaps he did have a tender side after all.
As it turns out, the lair of the “A team—i.e., the place where Spencer’s PI was able to trace the “A key—provided Spencer with the answer—a big giant NO. You were mistaken if you believed Spencer had hit rock bottom last week. Spence turned up at Ali’s funeral and informed Jason about Ali’s purported pregnancy with Detective Wilden’s child after realizing Toby isn’t even a little bit good. She subsequently learned that Toby had been placing the hydrangeas at his mother’s plaque in the tomb as the reason for her purchase. Maybe he is soft on the inside, just not for Spencer. The fact that Spencer immediately abandoned her soft side and etched Toby’s name on his mother’s plaque means that it is now irrelevant. Does this imply that she desires his death? Has Spoby met his end?
We might as well talk about Aria, who was busy, while we’re discussing breakups “When Wesley knocked on his door, he was at his apartment taking care of Ezra’s plants. Baby Fitz apparently did not enjoy attending pep school, and when he made advances toward his physics teacher, also known as the “In his attempt to be expelled from school, intellectual cougar, all he received was a suspension (as well as the physics teacher’s irate husband). He is therefore hiding at Ezra’s apartment. In the absence of Ezra, may Aria and Wesley develop a romantic relationship? Wesley certainly has gorgeous hair.
Move along! As Emily reclined on Dr. Sullivan’s couch to try some hypnotherapy to deal with the fallout of killing Nate, Aria rested on Ezra’s bed (welcome back, doctor!). However, after therapy caused Emily to believe she had murdered Ali, she realized Dr. Sullivan might not be the solution to her issues. Later, she came to her own conclusions. She only jumbled recollections. I’m not sure how she changed her memory from witnessing someone in a black hoodie dig up Ali’s grave on a different night to recalling bashing Ali in the head with a shovel. Em knows, however, that a blonde wearing a red coat is in control of the “A team. Ali, perhaps? CeCe? twin of Ali another person?
Will we eventually get to see Toby again? He should be traceable if he used his credit card to purchase the whiskey at the end of the episode, according to Spencer’s PI. Additionally, they ought to get him a new wallet once they locate him. Chains are a 2003 thing.

How was Toby’s Radley ID discovered by Spencer?
The first characteristic of “E. Lamb” is discovered by Spencer in a drawer in Toby’s residence. One of the hints that make her think Toby is a member of The A-Team and is assisting Mona Vanderwaal is this. One night, Toby is exposed and asks Spencer how long she has known he is on the “A-Team” when she discovers him searching in her kitchen for the “A” key. She hits him across the face after showing him the ID card. Due to the fact that E. Lamb leaves the room as Spencer’s mother enters, Toby never tells Spencer anything about him.
Is Toby acting like someone else?
Like Mona, Toby is not a top “A. As it turned out in season 3, he actually belonged to the “A Team” and assisted Mona in her cunning schemes. Toby asserts that he only joined “A” in order to protect Spencer.
What is the real story behind PLL’s Toby?
Being shy by nature, Toby Cavanaugh was coerced into having sex with Jenna by the threat that she would tell their parents that she had been forced into it and they would undoubtedly have believed her. The Liars believed Alison when she said that she witnessed Toby snooping on them from his tree house as she observed them changing into new clothing. In an attempt to get revenge on him, Alison and her pals threw a stink bomb into the Cavanaughs’ garage, setting it on fire and unintentionally blinding Jenna as a result. Nobody else may have been present in the garage. Toby was coerced into accepting responsibility for Jenna’s “accident” by Alison, who threatened to expose their affair by leaking the information.
Toby received a tattoo that reads “9/01 Free At Last” to commemorate the day he finally broke free from Jenna on September 1, which also happened to be the day Alison DiLaurentis vanished. This (at the time) strengthened the liars’ suspicions that Toby had murdered Ali. After spending a year in reform school (in Maine), Toby returns to Rosewood where he is considered as a social outcast and is also thought to be Alison’s murderer by The Liars (by the whole town). Starting with Emily Fields after becoming friends with her, he persuades the females to disagree. Emily will always be grateful to him for helping her come out and tell people that she is gay. After being exonerated, Toby maintains his innocence in Alison’s slaying and even starts a committed relationship with Spencer Hastings. Observe Spoby.
After the events of Season 2, Mona Vanderwaal is taken to Radley and texts the girls, “Mona played with toys, I play with body parts.” This message, along with the other growing threats of Season 3, can only be considered to be from Toby. In The Lady Killer, it is revealed that Toby and Mona are both members of The A-Team. On their anniversary, Spencer learns about this and breaks off their engagement. Over the course of the season, it becomes increasingly clear that Spencer is devastated. Later, Spencer tells the Liars that she has been aware for weeks that Toby is a member of the “A-Team.”
Spencer follows Mona into the woods in Out of Sight, Out of Mind, where she discovers a body on the ground surrounded by camping equipment. The individual is dressed in a leather jacket and motorbike helmet. Spencer is unaware of who this might be until she notices the tattoo “9/01 Free At Last” on the person’s side. Spencer breaks down and starts to cry because she believes the body is Toby’s, but before she can lift the eye guard on the helmet for proof, Mona screams out from the woods, “He’s dead,” diverting Spencer’s attention and causing her to chase Mona. The identity of the body in the woods was unclear and up for debate at the time. However, it was revealed in A Dangerous Game that Toby is still alive and that the body Spencer discovered was actually a John Doe. Toby tells Spencer that Hanna was hired to watch the children at the diner, assuming she is Mona. “I know,” replies Spencer, lifting her head to face him. He acknowledges that it is Spencer and says, “Everything I’ve done is so I could protect you,” before admitting that he joined the A-Team to defend her. Toby is expelled from the A-Team after their reunion.
In Season 4, Toby’s plot revolves around his quest for information regarding his mother’s passing. He is tortured by “A” with details about his mother’s alleged suicide while he does agreements with the devil. Spencer is furious that he gave “A” the RV when it might have contained information. His friendship with Spencer has been strained as a result of what she revealed to the other Liars regarding his dealings with A. In Now You See Me, Now You Don’t, he changes his mind and declares that he doesn’t want A’s version of the truth.
Season 5 makes it known that Toby traveled to London to help Spencer learn more about Melissa. His bond with Spencer deepens, and their interactions demonstrate how much in love they are. Toby also becomes a police officer, but in Taking This One to the Grave, he suffers a vehicle accident and damages his leg, delaying his graduation.

Jason tells them that they shouldn’t wait for Spencer as he doesn’t think she’s coming. At the very last minute she arrives. Jason assumes she has changed her mind, but she corrects him by saying that she only came because she was sure she could find him there. She tells Jason that Alison was pregnant when she died and the father was Wilden. Jason leaves, followed by the girls who are angry with her.
The other girls think something is really wrong with Spencer. They all agree that the way she is behaving is not proportional with what they think happened. Emily hears sprinklers and realizes that in her hypnotherapy session, she mixed up her memories. She flashes back to a night in the graveyard where a person in a black hoodie was trying to dig up Alison’s grave and open her casket with a crowbar. There were sprinklers that night too. Emily was right behind them with a shovel in her right hand, desperately telling them not to do it. As Emily tried to stop them, she said exactly the same things she saw Alison say in her hypnosis session. The black-hooded person covers Emily’s mouth with his or her hand while a woman in a red coat behind them watches and leaves. Emily says that she “is the one in charge.”
Spencer stops at the grave of Marion Cavanaugh. She uses the A key to scratch “TOBY” into the marble. In the last scene we see “A” in a wine shop buying whiskey. The clerk asks for ID, and “A” proceeds to pull it out of their wallet, but we don’t see it.
