During the Mother’s Day weekend, immerse yourself in a sea of more than 100,000 tulips at Albany’s historic Washington Park for the annual tulip festival hosted by Citizens Bank. Since Mayor Erastus Corning II proclaimed the first Tulip Festival on May 14, 1949, the Mother’s Day weekend festival has developed into one of the largest and most cherished annual events in the Northeast.
Tulip Festival is a unique, free event for the whole family that combines historical celebrations of Albany’s rich Dutch past with multiple stages of acclaimed live music, artisan merchants, a fine arts show, children’s activities, and delicious cuisine.

The genus Tulipa contains perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes that bloom in the spring (having bulbs as storage organs).
