Early June through mid-July is the blooming period for blue and pink hydrangeas. Red and yellow hibiscus bloom from late July to mid-September. Orange and yellow tea olives bloom from late September until late October. Early November to late December: Holly (Red) blooms.
How much time do hydrangeas need to blossom ACNH?
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can buy new bush beginnings from Leif’s Flower Shop either when he comes to your island outside Resident Services or when Harvey’s Shopping Plaza is established. Leif’s island sightings are highly sporadic, and you have no influence over how often or when he will show there.
Leif will always be selling two different varieties of bushes at a time, in both of their available colors, whether you locate him on your home island or at Harvey’s Island. According on our prior experience, one of the bush types Leif sells will always be the current blossoming bush that is “in season.” The other shrub kind he has appears to have been chosen at random.
Leif charges 280 Bells per bush for a “start,” or 1400 Bells for a bulk box of five bush starts. When visiting neighboring islands, you can also buy shrubs from Leif for a perhaps wider selection.
Every Bush Type and Color Variety List
For Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can cultivate a total of 13 different bushes or shrubs, including 7 distinct varieties with a variety of colors for most bushes. Below are images of each variety of bush in each color.
Plumeria Bushes: Pink & White
The Version 2.0 Update introduced the Pink and White color versions of the Plumeria Bushes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which can be purchased from Leif’s Flower Shop for 280 Bells each. They are also present on the Kapp’n Mystery Islands.
In the Northern Hemisphere, they bloom from June 1 to September 20; in the Southern Hemisphere, from December 1 to March 20.
Azalea Bushes: Pink & White
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are Pink and White color variations of the Azalea Bushes that can be purchased from Leif’s Flower Shop for 280 Bells apiece. In the Northern Hemisphere, they bloom from April 11 to May 31; in the Southern Hemisphere, from October 11 to November 30.
Camellia Bushes: Pink & Red
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are Pink and Red color variations of the Camellia Bushes that can be purchased from Leif’s Flower Shop for 280 Bells each. In the Northern Hemisphere, they bloom from January 1 to March 31; in the Southern Hemisphere, from June 16 to September 30.
Wait for the Shrubs to Grow!
Wait three days after planting the shrubs for them to bloom. They don’t require Watering Cans to thrive, unlike Flowers, so have a seat and unwind!
Bushes and Shrubs Don’t Have Hybrids
The only method to obtain more Bushes and Shrubs is to purchase them from Leif since they cannot organically spread or cross-pollinate and can only be grown in the shop’s stock of hues.
What bushes are currently blooming ACNH?
These are all the shrubs that are currently present in New Horizons, along with their blooming dates. Otherwise, they’ll simply resemble a typical shrub without flowers.
- White and pink azaleas bloom from the middle of April until the end of May.
- Pink and crimson camellias bloom in early February to late March.
- Red and yellow hibiscus are in bloom from late July to mid-September.
- Early November to late December: Holly (red) bloom
- Between early June and mid-July, blue and pink hydrangeas are in bloom.
- Orange and yellow tea olives bloom in late September to late October.
What Bush is ACNH in season?
These plants won’t always be in bloom, as we just explained. From the earliest part of the year to the last, this is when you may anticipate them to bloom. A few of them won’t bloom until the middle or end of the month, so keep that in mind. For instance, hibiscus won’t produce blossoms until the end of July.
- March and February for camellias
- April through May: azaleas
- Hyacinths: June and July
- Hortensia: July and September
- October and September, Tea Olives
- November and December, Holly
Make sure to grab some shrubs while Leif is around because they can be a good way to freshen up your town.
Why Animal Crossing won’t my hydrangea bloom?
Although bushes and shrubs resemble flowers, they are more like miniature trees. If nothing is in the way, you can access the shrub in your inventory, choose “plant,” and then drop it at your feet to start a new bush.
Considering that bushes are similar to both flowers and trees, there are a few different rules that apply to shrubs:
- Watering cans have no effect on them because they do not require water to flourish.
- They will take a few days to mature, plus an additional day for seasonal blooms to blossom. You won’t be able to stroll through them like flowers once they start to develop.
- The fact that watering cans have no impact on them means that they cannot be bred to produce more or hybrid flowers.
- Because of their modest size, you don’t need to eat the fruit; instead, you can dig them up whenever you like and transplant them with a shovel.
- You can discover snails crawling on them when it rains!
- If you want to know which shrubs are in season, just ask Leif. Bushes don’t perish when they’re out of season; they just won’t appear.
In ACNH, where can you find blue hydrangeas?
Obtaining Blue Hyacinth
- Seeds can be bought at Nook’s Cranny. You simply need white hyacinth seeds to grow blue hyacinths.
- Diagonally plant white hyacinths. To promote cross-breeding and the development of the blue hybrids, you must plant your white hyacinth seeds diagonally, one space apart from one another.
How much time does a hydrangea require to bloom?
There could be a number of causes for hydrangeas not to bloom. Since we can grow five different species of hydrangeas, some explanations vary based on which type it is.
But first, let’s cover the broad causes. The bush might not be fully developed for blooming. The majority of woody plants don’t bloom until they are rather mature. If a newly planted bush had flower buds when it was in a pot, it might bloom the first year. However, after that, it might not bloom for a year or two as it gets used to the soil in its new position. Instead of flower buds, it is actively forming new roots and branches. There will be a lot more flowers when it eventually starts to blossom again because the bush has indeed “bushed” out!
Sadder still, it’s possible that deer have devoured the flower buds. Where deer have pulled the buds off because they lack incisors, look for rough torn stem ends. Additionally, because all hydrangeas require moisture to thrive, blossoming may not take place if a drought strikes at the incorrect time.
The timing of some hydrangea pruning by gardeners has been off. At this point, determining the species becomes crucial. We have two species that flower on fresh wood (new growth of the current growing season). These include the panicle hydrangea, Hydrangea paniculata, also known as the PG hydrangea, which is frequently seen densely planted in cemeteries, and the native smooth hydrangea, Hydrangea arborescens, which is frequently sold under the cultivar name “Annabelle” and typically has white mophead flowers. Early spring is a good time to prune these two species, and the new growth will bloom later in the summer.
Our other three hydrangea species, however, only flower on aged wood (growth from the previous growing season). The native oakleaf hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia, with stunning crimson or maroon fall foliage color, the climbing hydrangea, Hydrangea anomala petiolaris, a fantastic vine for partial shade, and the majority of the highly popular blue or pink bigleaf hydrangea, Hydrangea macrophylla, are included. The flower buds will probably be removed if these plants are pruned in the fall or early spring. It is preferable to prune immediately following blooming, before the new flower buds emerge.
The bigleaf hydrangea has undergone a number of new types over the past few years. They bloom on both old and new wood, hence the name “remontant.” Growing these types will help one prevent a further cause of poor bloom. Flower buds on older, non-remontant types of Hydrangea macrophylla frequently die in our cold winters. However, gardeners who reside in urban areas or close to bodies of water, where the winters are less severe, frequently have success with these types. A winter with a thick layer of snow may also adequately shield the flower buds from the cold in rural areas.
Holly in Animal Crossing can you choose her?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Holly Shrub is a bush item that was added in the 1.2.0 Free April Update. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Holly Bush blooms from November 1 to December 31 while in the Southern Hemisphere, it blooms from May 1 to June 15. You can move the bush by digging it up.
Growing a Holly Start will result in the Holly Bush. They can be spotted on Kapp’n’s boat cruises as well.

Where can I buy Leif hedges?
The Hedge Fence is a unique kind of landscape fencing item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that can be acquired in unconventional ways. In our guide, you can find out how to unlock and make this new fence item.
The Hedge Fence can’t be purchased from the Nook Miles area of the Nook Stop terminal at Resident Services, unlike most other Fences in the game. Instead, depending on when you’re playing, there are two ways to unlock the Hedge Fence.
Purchase Bushes From Leif’s Flower Shop
Purchasing products from Leif when he comes to your island as a traveling merchant is the primary way for most players to unlock the Hedge Fence in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. On sporadic days, he sells plants and flowers in front of Resident Services.
Talking to Leif can start a dialogue where he gives you the Hedge DIY Crafting recipe as a thank you for being such a nice customer once you’ve bought enough items from him.
During our testing, buying 30 bushes from Leif was sufficient to start the Hedge Fence unlock dialog. You might have to wait until his second or third visit because these purchases happened over several visits as well. Purchasing flower seeds might also work, but we choose not to do it.
Again, there are too many other factors that could affect this need for us to provide an exact number, but generally speaking, we advise buying a lot of bushes from him until you have the dialogue with him seen in the screenshot above!
Complete Nature Day Event Challenge
The Nature Day in-game event, which runs from April 23 through May 4th, includes the ability to unlock the new Hedge fence equipment as well! To take part in the Nature Day event, you must be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons during this time.
Go to Resident Services when Nature Day starts on your island to talk to Tom Nook about this fascinating new eco-event! For the Nature Day event, he’ll let you know about some brand-new Nook Miles+ challenges that are available on your NookPhone.
Check out these new, limited-time Nature Day challenges by opening the Nook Miles app on your NookPhone and doing things like planting new flowers, watering flowers, planting some new shrub items, or other such duties.
If you don’t notice any Nature Day-related activities despite being positive that the event has indeed started on your island, try deleting some of your current Nook Miles challenges to make room for the new Nature Day challenges.
It’s really simple to unlock the brand-new Hedge Fencing equipment.
Just finish the first Nature Day-themed challenge in Nook Miles, then go back and talk to Tom Nook in Resident Services. He will provide you the DIY Crafting formula for a hedge fence when you speak with him.
How To Craft Hedge Fence Item
The Hedge fencing item needs the following crafting supplies to be made:
- ten thickets of weeds
- Five Tree Branch
- 2 Stone
Ten components are provided when you create the hedge fence for installation. If you need more, craft the item once more to receive another 10 pieces!
The Hedge Fence Changes Based On Seasons
It’s important to remember that the Hedge Fence truly alters depending on the season on your island. Other than adjusting the time on your Nintendo Switch, you have no influence over this appearance, as far as we know.
