Riverdale on The CW features a recurring character named Sweet Pea. The actor Jordan Connor plays him.
Sweet Pea is a member of the Southside Serpents and went to Southside High before it was closed down by Mayor McCoy due to alleged poisonous vapors coming from the “methamphetamine lab” in the basement. He and Toni Topaz, Jughead Jones, and Fangs Fogarty transferred to Riverdale High shortly after the school was closed.
Sweet Pea seems to have a tremendous deal of contempt for the Northside and its residents, as do many Southsiders. The Riverdale Bulldogs and the Red Circle have been involved in multiple violent clashes with him as a result of his seeming greater level of animosity for them. Each of his interactions with Reggie Mantle and Archie Andrews has been as violent as the last, if not more so. He holds the Northside responsible for the problems in the Southside, and Fangs’ shooting incident outside the sheriff’s office only fueled his animosity toward the Northside as he led the younger Serpents in defiling Riverdale High during the riots. He would subsequently discover that not all residents of the Northside are his adversaries, though.
Sweet Pea appears in Season 5 of Riverdale.
In the student lounge, the senior class meets to open a time capsule from seventy-five years ago. A copy of the Riverdale Register from June 12, 1945, a copy of the Blue and Gold from the same year, a Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe menu from the days when hamburgers only cost 15 cents, a baseball card of Riverdale’s hometown hero Ambrose “The Rocket” Pipps, and finally a Red Circle comic book and a photograph of four seniors taken the day before the boys left for war are all found inside. The group stays in the student lounge after the time capsule is opened, where they talk about their last day at Riverdale High. Then Betty and Veronica show up with the yearbooks, Sweet Pea pointing out that the Southside Serpents have their own page in the books.
On the day of graduation, Toni takes Nana Topaz on a tour of the school with the help of Sweet Pea and Fangs. The seniors then proceed to the auditorium to receive their degrees. [1]
Years Later
He’s been out of Riverdale High for seven years now. When Archie returns from the war, Toni and Fangs are performing at the Whyte Wyrm with Sweet Pea. They regroup in a booth later to make up for missed time. Toni, Fangs, and Kevin all share an apartment on Cloverfield Lane. When Toni returned, they revived the Serpents under her leadership, and she was named the Serpent Queen. As for Sweet Pea, he held down the fort while they were away for college. Then Archie queries the rise in trucks. Sweet Pea explains that Fangs and himself are among the Serpents who drive trucks for a living. [2]
Raiding the Ghoulies Den
Jughead is pleading with Toni for a job when Sweet Pea and Fangs walk in to the Wyrm. Unfortunately for Jughead, the way he portrayed the Serpents in his book has caused a rift between them. Jughead is accused of exposing the Serpents as fools. Jughead counters that the “Vipers” were the main characters and that he didn’t use their real names, but Sweet Pea had no trouble figuring out that he was “Pop Eye” and Fangs was “Toothy.” Toni turns Jughead away after he disrespected their Serpent traditions and codes, but not before warning him to watch his back.
Archie, Betty, and Kevin are joined by Sweet Pea and Fangs at the community center, where they talk about their strategy for raiding the Ghoulies drug lair. Asserting that it has been far too long since the Serpents and Ghoulies engaged in combat, Sweet Pea is ecstatic. The five of them raid the Ghoulies drug lair with the help of Sheriff Keller, protected by kevlar jackets and equipped with bats and batons. By the time they are finished attacking, all the Ghoulies have been captured and their Jingle Jangle has been brought in as proof.
Later, Toni and Fangs join Sweet Pea at the town hall meeting where Riverdale’s township is officially disbanded.

Reuniting with Josie
When Josie arrives strolling out, Sweet Pea is outside Pop’s on his motorcycle. He inquires as to her activities in Riverdale and offers to drive her. The two return to her room at the Five Seasons and engage in sexual activity there. The next morning, Sweet Pea finds Josie slipping away on him. Although their encounter was just what she needed, she still needs to take care of business. Due to her superstar status, Sweet Pea is aware of her obligations and watches her go.
To support Riverdale, Sweet Pea goes to the one-night-only Josie and the Pussycats concert. However, Toni’s labor causes them to end their performance. The following day, as Josie gets ready to depart on her tour with the Pussycats, Sweet Pea shows up and pulls her aside. He expresses his desire to go on tour with her and even offers to drive the bus or serve as a roadie, saying that he can be anything for her. Josie invites Sweet Pea to join her because she finds it amusing how far he will go to be with her. [4]
What happened to Sweet Pea in Season 4 of Riverdale?
In Season 4, Archie and Betty shared a kiss, hinting at the simmering sentiments they may have for one another despite their long-standing partnerships. We definitely want to see where this relationship can go, despite the fact that the execution wasn’t flawless.
Since Season 1, Riverdale’s core four have been matched in the same relationships. While we adore Varchie and Bughead, it’s time to switch things up. There is still room for Betty and Archie’s unrequited love to be completely explored.
Betty and Archie should be able to lean into their affections for one another without betraying Veronica or Jughead thanks to the time jump, which will shake up all of these relationships. We all deserve the opportunity to witness what transpires when they choose the proper moment to become the childhood friends to lovers greatness we’ve been waiting for.
5. Wedded Choni
On the other side of the time jump, we just know that at least one Riverdale pair will be hitched, and we hope it’s Cheryl and Toni. These two are the ones who deserve to remain together after all these years.
Have Cheryl and Toni happily married (or engaged) by the time we see them again, and leave the drama to the straight couples.
Just because a couple has made the decision to remain together forever doesn’t mean that relationships stop being intriguing; in fact, in truth, that’s when they become most exciting.
It would make perfect sense for Riverdale to have Choni return as the only established couple following the time jump. They share a college, they already live together, and they frequently return to one another.
6. Toni’s backstory and a solid narrative
While we’re at it, Toni needs a true storyline that doesn’t just revolve around supporting Cheryl’s outrageous behavior. Don’t get me wrong—we adore these two together and even Cheryl’s wacky antics—but Toni has received little screen time over the past two seasons.
Another season when Toni is a stand-alone character unconnected to Cheryl would be appreciated.
Toni was one of the show’s best characters when she first appeared in Season 2, and her position within the serpents was both intriguing and dynamic. Riverdale is adept at developing engaging plots for a variety of characters and weaving them together.
7. Additional Sweet Pea, Reggie, and himbo content
Although Sweet Pea and Reggie are unquestionably supporting characters on Riverdale, we still like them. There are plenty of himbos in Riverdale, which is a wonderful thing. We especially hope to see more of these two.
While Jordan Conner was filming Looking For Alaska, Sweet Pea mysteriously disappeared from a significant portion of Season 4. This wasn’t lost on viewers. Reggie is still around, and while we adore him, we could always use more of his silly, endearing smile.
8. Additional Southside Serpent tales
In general, we’d like to see the Southside Serpents return to the limelight on Riverdale. The show’s found family tropes, which appeared with the creation of the Serpents, are a major reason why Season 2 is still the strongest season thus far.
So many of the best characters on the show either originated from or eventually evolved into Southside Serpents. All of those people are still present, although the gang hasn’t really contributed much since Season 3.
Show us Cheryl and Toni as co-serpent queens, FP and Alice reuniting as legacy members defending their home, and new serpents against fresh adversaries.
You might even bring Penny Peabody back. We had obviously been lacking something exceptional in Riverdale until the Southside Serpents arrived.
9. A rekindled romance between Veronica and Reggie
I could be the minority, but I thought Veronica and Reggie were great together. There is no reason why we couldn’t also have these two rekindle their romance if we’re switching up the relationships of the main four and investigating Barchie.
Is Sweet Pea present in Riverdale Season 3?
Although we don’t know much about Sweet Pea’s family, we do know that he is a Southside Serpent who despises the North side because he believes that residents of that neighborhood are to blame for the South side’s financial woes.
When Jughead changes schools to Southside High, we learn a little more about him. Jughead and Sweet Pea first disagree because Jughead doesn’t truly want to join the serpents. Jughead had second thoughts about joining the Serpents after witnessing all the fighting between Archie’s Red Circle and the gang and after being jumped by Ghoulies thugs.
Sweet Pea served as the Serpents’ inspiration to fight back against their enemies before Jughead took over as their leader. Sweet Pea is the one who leads the Southsiders in the fight against the Red Circle and the Riverdale Bulldogs when Archie joins the Red Circle.
In addition, Sweet Pea was involved in a plan to bomb The Register, which publishes a story about the fight that portrays Southsiders negatively. Betty’s mother works for The Register. However, the attack was never carried out.
When Archie informs the Serpents of the city’s intention to invade their lair, the White Wyrm, Sweet Pea’s animosity toward the North side lessens.
Sweet Pea effectively serves as Jughead’s right-hand man in the third season’s battle with the Gargoyle King and his crew.

Penny’s office was in the back of a tattoo shop, and Jughead stopped over to beg her for help in his father’s case. Penny continues to tell Jughead that they paid for her college while revealing to him that she was and still is a serpent and that she has a Serpent tattoo on her left forearm. Jughead thinks it was shrewd to have their own attorney on retainer. Jughead is surprised when Penny remembers how his father used to boast about how smart he was. Jughead tells her that he learned about the lousy deal he received through mutual coworkers and begs for her assistance. She advises him to ask the victim’s family for forgiveness in front of the judge in order to perhaps have his sentence reduced to time served with parole. Jughead offers to compensate her for the services provided, but she declines, suggesting that he perhaps do her a favor someday. [1]
Early the next morning, Penny called Jughead to ask for the favor he due her for accepting her offer of a free consultation on FP’s case.
Jughead and the two of them met up in Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, where he disregarded the agreement. That is, until Penny let him know that FP needed more help. Penny stated that he was in the medical center. Because of the agreement Jughead and his Northsider best friend made with Sheriff Keller to get the Ghoulies’ higher-ups imprisoned, it is said that FP was attacked by a few Ghoulies while he was in prison while taking a shower. They required cash to negotiate a deal for FP’s release. Penny reasoned that wealthy individuals avoid prison because they can buy justice. Jughead only had $18 in his pocket, which was a bummer. In that situation, Penny made Jughead an offer for a single delivery task that needed him to pick up a crate on the Southside and bring it to a Greendale location. Penny decided to refer to the items inside the crate as “pancake mix,” which is another way of saying that they were narcotics. She called Jughead her mobility consultant. If he consented, Penny would use his portion of the money to try and advance FP’s release date. After some hesitation at first, Jughead decided to deliver the medicines. After giving him the address, Penny warned him to arrive before midnight because Greendale is not a place you want to be after that hour. Last but not least, she advised him to get a ride because the crate was rather large and wouldn’t fit on his bike.
Jughead confronted Penny the following day after learning that she had lied to him about FP being jumped by the Ghoulies, however she preferred to see it as a gift for him. She then played Jughead footage from the previous night that showed him and Archie entering the Greendale warehouse with the drug-filled crate. Penny informed Jughead that his one-time drug delivery had turned into a full-time job and that she now had the power to extort money from him. Penny threatened to send the tape to the Sheriff Station if he didn’t comply or even yelled at her, which she knew would make FP cry since Jughead would be put in jail. He wondered why she was picking on him. Penny clarified that FP had made a promise to her that he had broken. He therefore had the same depth as Jughead in her eyes. He was unfortunate since she was just starting begun. [2]
Penny contacted Jughead from a booth in Pop’s Diner after successfully rescuing FP to set up a meeting since they had business to talk. However, Jughead refused to play along, having already told her that he was done. However, Penny threatened to have FP returned to jail if Jughead didn’t comply with her demands.
Jughead visited Pop’s because he had no other choice, but he just came to assure Penny that she wouldn’t be holding him hostage. Jughead announced that he was out after having done his one favor that they had previously agreed upon. But Penny pointed out that their arrangement was ongoing and that he had debts to settle. Jughead responded by saying he was going to meet with Mayor McCoy, who was aggressively trying to halt drug trafficking in Riverdale, soon. He then made a threat to the Mayor that he would divulge how Penny had taken over Clifford Blossom’s business. Sadly for Jughead, Penny was well-versed in the law and informed him that he would need documentation to support such a claim, such as the surveillance footage she has of him and Archie during the drop-off. However, an attack on him or his father was an attack against all Serpents, as Jughead explained to Penny, and that wouldn’t sit well with the group. Jughead was about to get up and leave the diner when Penny mentioned his girlfriend, the rather attractive Betty Cooper. Penny said, “All snakes have a soft underbelly. Betty was Jughead’s by chance. Kicked out of the Serpents
Penny heard a knock on the door while she was putting pills into a crate for FP to deliver later on at her warehouse. She believed the early arrival to be FP. She was shocked to see Jughead on the other side of the door, though. She then turned her gaze downward, catching sight of the crowbar he was holding. Jughead clarified that he intended to use it in the event that he needed to force the door open. Penny urged Jughead to assist her with the drugs while FP was on the way, knowing that FP wouldn’t be pleased given that he had taken Jughead’s place because he didn’t want him involved in drug trafficking. Jughead clarified that since neither he nor his father would be present at the warehouse when FP came, he wasn’t worried about what his father had to say. When Penny looked around, she saw at least six serpents wearing masks of snakes. Is this supposed to frighten me? she questioned. The young Serpents then approached her, putting a black hood over her head, and dragging her away after she had warned them to stop what they were doing.
The hood was pulled off of Penny once she was brought into Greendale. Jughead said that she had been forbidden from returning to the Southside, so they had taken her to her new home. They didn’t care where she set up shop, but neither Riverdale nor the Serpents were going to be the location. She would go somewhere else if she wanted to extort people and trade drugs, as long as Jughead was involved. After drawing up the sleeve of her leather Serpents jacket to display her Serpents tattoo, Penny laughed in his face and said that Serpent law forbade them from harming one of their own. Penny understood that her tattoo did not entitle her to membership in the gang because she had not been according to the Serpent laws. She was then restrained by Toni and Sweet Pea as Jughead took out a knife and forcibly removed her tattoo with it, a process that was exceedingly painful. [4]
Return of the Snake Charmer
After the statue of General Augustus Pickens’ head was taken from Pickens Park, Tall Boy asked Penny to assist the Serpents in fighting the Sheriff Keller and Mayor McCoy-issued two-week notice of eviction from Sunnyside Trailer Park. The Serpents gathered around Penny at the Whyte Wyrm as she described how Jughead had taken her to Greendale against her will and had cut a piece of her arm where her Serpent tattoo had once been. She was left bleeding in a ditch in Greendale. Penny was nevertheless prepared to assist the Serpents. The eviction notices Tall Boy had shown her were valid, but she could come up with a variety of methods to delay things by years. Blood for blood, though, was her price. One eye for the other She demanded that Jughead be expelled in her place in addition to having her Serpents membership reinstated. The last thing she wanted in return for her services was to use a filthy knife to remove Jughead’s tattoo. [5]
