Spring is when most flowers, including tulips, blossom. Therefore, if you want to see the Netherlands in bloom, the best time to go is from March to May. The Keukenhof, the most stunning spring park in the world, is open at this time.
Do you have access to tulip fields?
If you happen to be in Holland during tulip season, you must visit the renowned tulip fields near Amsterdam. You can actually feel spring coming on thanks to the lovely colors and scents. You will view the tulips and flower meadows at their peak with these sightseeing tours. Near the Bollenstreek’s Keukenhof Gardens, all tourist trips begin (flower region).

Stop and Smell the Tulips
For Spring blooms, look no further than North Texas. A pick-your-own tulip field called Texas-Tulips may be found in Pilot Point. Depending on the weather, the tulip picking season starts in mid- to late-February and lasts until late March or early April. There are around 100 different varieties of tulips, and the season’s supply changes.

In the soft, rolling hills north of Dallas, they discovered the ideal synthesis of rich soil, rural charm, and pleasant weather throughout the spring. It also allowed them to meet the customers who purchase their tulips, which was one of their greatest wishes!
Texas-Tulips also sells pre-cooled tulip bulbs year-round, which are ideal for planting from mid-December to early January if you’re interested in creating your own tulip garden!

Bring your loved ones and friends along for a fun day of tulip picking in a beautiful setting. The 6-acre field has tulip picking baskets all over it. Texas-Tulips will load your basket with flowers while taking pictures along the way, then wrap your bouquet for you with care instructions for storing it at home (or someone else’s home because they make a great present). Each stem of a tulip costs $2.50.

MOUNT VERON, Washington The Skagit Valley is once again covered with stunning fields of vibrant tulips and daffodils, signaling the arrival of spring in western Washington.
After the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival went virtual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic, this is the second year that guests are let back onto the fields for the festival.
The festival attracts visitors from all 50 states as well as more than 85 other nations in a “typical year,” according to the festival website.

Have tulips bloomed yet?
From December to about May, tulips can be found in flower stores throughout Holland. These tulips are being grown in greenhouses rather than on flower fields. Tulip fields are not visible in December, January, or February. A tulip field in bloom in March is also extremely unusual but not impossible. The majority of visitors want to see the open tulip fields. April is the ideal time to view tulips in Holland. Mid-April to early May 2023 offers the best possibility of seeing the most picturesque tulip fields.

Tulips in Amsterdam
It’s likely that if you’re visiting the Netherlands for the first time, you’ll end up in Amsterdam.
The city does grow tulips in designated areas in honor of its annual tulip festival, which is held during the entire month of April, even if there aren’t any enormous, “far as the eye can see fields of tulips running through the city (one could hope, right?).

PS: The renowned Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market) is another great place to get your fill of tulips, however I must admit that I don’t particularly enjoy how touristy it is.
Cycling the The Flower Strip
The Flower Strip, a funny name they’ve given the highway from Haarlem to Leiden, is another option to enjoy free tulip fields in the Netherlands.
There are signposted routes that, according to what I’ve heard, are fairly foolproof that take you past all the vibrant tulip fields you’ve always imagined over this 35 kilometer stretch of level terrain.
Many choose to take this trip beginning in Haarlem, which is about 20 minutes by rail from Amsterdam, while taking the route only in part is also an option (see below).
The free tulip fields around Keukenhof and Lisse
Here’s another lazy option if you don’t feel like cycling the full Flower Strip.
There are many stunning, vast tulip fields nearby Keukenhof that are free for you to admire. You can take public transportation to Keukenhof, rent bikes there, and then set off on one of the four clearly indicated cycling paths to see various fields.
Remember not to cycle through the fields destroying everything in your path if you lose all sense of reason. Respect the boundaries, refrain from trespassing, and exercise caution when taking pictures.
Free Tulip Fields in Kop van Noord-Holland
The location of the largest flower bulb field in the world and where many residents allegedly choose to go tulip hunting on their own.
This beautiful region, which can be reached by train from Amsterdam and is located north of the city, is home to beaches, cute tiny towns (like everywhere else in the Netherlands), and lots of flowers.
Are the tulips in Amsterdam currently in bloom?
The Keukenhof Tulip Gardens are open from 24 March to 15 May 2022, which is the greatest part of Tulp Festival when the tulip fields outside Amsterdam are in full bloom. It is highly advised that you visit this lovely flower park if you are in Holland during this time. It is preferable to purchase your ticket online if you wish to visit Keukenhof. You can spend more time admiring the tulips by avoiding the checkout line.
You need to pick a day and entry time for Keukenhof Gardens when you order your tickets. The number of tickets sold each day and the arrival time to Keukenhof will be limited starting in 2023. Therefore, reserve your tickets early! If your preferred day and hour are not available, the tickets have already been distributed. Continue to desire to go to Keukenhof? Because there are more days and times available, look into the combo tickets with the Keukenhof bus or Keukenhof tours from Amsterdam.
Are the tulips in Holland, Michigan, currently in bloom?
The park opens at 9 am and is open until 7 pm during Tulip Time, with tickets being sold until 6 pm. Only visitors who have purchased admission by 6pm will be permitted in, so please plan ahead. Due to the high volume of visitors on the weekends, there may be lineups to park in our lot and pay for entrance. Entry inside the park is not guaranteed without paying for admission. The remainder of our season, from April 18 to October 2, is from 9:30 am to 6 pm, with tickets being offered until 5 pm.
Our park is highly busy during Tulip Time, so to ensure access, we recommend going during the week or outside of Tulip Time. Tulips typically blossom both before and after the festival. Tulip Time weekends are particularly crowded, and our parking lot will be full. Weekdays are typically a little less hectic.
Our tulips typically start blooming in late April and continue until mid-May, however it is too early to determine when they will reach their peak. Instead of all blossoming at once, our tulips flow into color because to their variety.

Yes, we have a parking lot for 250 cars. Our causeway blocks incoming traffic when it is full until space becomes available. There is additional free parking in Downtown Holland, including a building on 7th Street between Columbia and College Avenues (just past our entrance on the right). It is a short distance from there to our ticket booth.
We are collaborating with Zeeland Public Schools to offer a FREE shuttle service on our causeway from 10 am to 7 pm on the Saturdays and Sundays of Tulip Time (May 7/8 & 14/15). Visitors won’t have to walk the entire two and a half miles to our entry location because a bus will pick them up at the top of our causeway (behind Freedom Village and the bus/train terminal). After their tour, it will take visitors back to the causeway’s top. In order to prevent congestion and harmful conditions on our causeway, we advise walkers to use this bus. Please be aware that only guests parked in the downtown area are eligible for this service (NOT our parking lot.)
Although we don’t presently sell advance tickets, visitors can buy a membership online HERE, which grants free access to our website as well as free or discounted access to dozens of other American Horticultural Society reciprocal gardens across the US and Canada. Please give your membership card two weeks to arrive. Keep in mind that there can still be queues to enter the park and the parking lot. We are unable to promise entry to the park during peak hours due to visitor quantity restrictions.
All of our structures and attractions are currently open, including:
tours of “De Zwaan” windmills. Visitors are welcome to have a socially disengaged, self-guided tour of the mill. To prevent crowding, a certain number of visitors are only permitted at once, and some locations have restrictions.
Tulips and a variety of other flowers and plants can be found in our lovely gardens and grounds.
All day long, ‘The Four Columns’ Amsterdam Street Organ will be played.
To ensure sufficient social distance, the Welkom Movie and Virtual Windmill Tour was relocated to Celebration Pavilion.
We will keep an eye on state health regulations to see if any adjustments are required.
There are only a few food alternatives available to us, including weekday food wagons and snacks from our gift shop. Boxed lunches will be offered in our pavilion every day on the weekends. Check out the many eateries and specialty festival vendors in the downtown area for delicious culinary selections.
We will abide by all regional, national, and local regulations that tell us how to operate and maintain our attractions.
Shared surfaces will be cleaned during the day by staff, with a complete cleaning done every evening and as needed. The park will have hand sanitizer available for both visitors and employees to use.
We kindly request that anyone who has COVID-19, has had contact with someone who has COVID-19 within the last two weeks, or is displaying any COVID-19 symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of sense of taste or smell) avoid going to our park at this time.

Where can I see tulips at their best?
The Bollenstreek, or bulb district, is the greatest location to visit in the Netherlands if you want to enjoy the tulips.
Between Leiden, The Hague, and Haarlem is a region known as The Bollenstreek. The cities of Lisse, Hillegom, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Noordwijkerhout, and Teylingen are located in this region, and the flower industry is thriving there.
The Dutch town of Lisse is where you can also locate the Keukenhof. Although it is commercial, I nevertheless urge you to visit at least once in your lifetime. The park is truly a tulip heaven with over 7 million tulips!
Go to the countryside between Hillegom and Warmond to find more tranquil spots. Amazing flower fields can be found there. Rainbow-patterned flower fields are waiting, ranging in color from blue to white or stunningly purple to orange.
In other words, if you don’t mind paying, go to the Keukenhof; if you can’t afford it, go to the fields nearby. You can be sure that you’ll see lots of those lovely tulips with either of these alternatives!
