Finally, consider this Harry Potter theory: Petunia Dursley was a witch all along.
As a result, one Tumblr user claims that Aunt Petunia is actually a disgruntled old witch who buried her abilities after being shunned by the magical world rather than a Muggle.
Aunt Petunia – a magician?
Petunia didn’t just keep her interest in magic to herself; she also formally requested admission to Hogwarts from Albus Dumbledore. Unfortunately, the gentle headmaster had to politely reject her because she lacked magical abilities. Even though Petunia (or “Tuney,” as she was then known) was dealt a humiliating blow, it may have been something she handled quietly and privately. Her humiliation increased when Lily and Snape discovered her letter and read it. Petunia initially referred to her sister as a “freak” when she yelled at her after learning what they had done. Unfortunately for the Evans sisters, that was the turning point in their relationship.

Although she may have given Harry a place to grow up, it was obvious that Petunia’s unfulfilled magical aspirations were likely what made her the person she was—someone who was more concerned with the surgical cleanliness of her counters than the welfare of her sister’s son.
She paused briefly as she bid Harry farewell, as if to say something. Of course, she never did, but that shaky second revealed a lot about her character.
Lily Potter: Is she a witch?
The younger child of Mr. and Mrs. Evans and Petunia’s sister, Lily Potter (née Evans) was a Muggle-born witch who lived from January 30, 1960, until October 31, 1981. She discovered she was a witch as a youngster after Severus Snape, a neighbouring wizard lad, identified her as one and informed her of magic’s existence. The two grew close, but as time went on, Snape’s fascination in the Dark Arts and his desire to join the Death Eaters caused their friendship to deteriorate. After Snape called her a Mudblood in their fifth year of friendship, Lily broke it off. She was assigned to Gryffindor house while attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1971 until 1978. Lily was a gifted student who joined the Slug Club and was appointed Head Girl in her seventh year.
Harry was born to Lily and James Potter after she graduated from Hogwarts. During the First Wizarding War, she, James, and James’s companions (Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew) all joined the Order of the Phoenix. She and her husband also three times resisted Lord Voldemort. But after a prophecy about Lord Voldemort and their young son was made, Lily and James were forced to flee into hiding. Peter Pettigrew betrayed James and Lily to Lord Voldemort. In 1981, Lily and her husband were both killed by Voldemort as they were attempting to defend their young kid. James, Sirius, and Remus were present when Lily reappeared through the Resurrection Stone in 1998. James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, and Lily Luna Potter, who was named after her grandmother, were the three grandchildren Lily had through her son, Harry Potter, following the Second Wizarding War.

[…] The vehement denial that Aunt Petunia had upheld during Harry’s entire life—that there was no magic and no other world save the one she shared with Uncle Vernon—seemed to have crumbled. (2.194)
Harry and Aunt Petunia share a moment of unexpected understanding when Harry suddenly realizes that his mother, who was killed by Voldemort, was also her sister. This moment serves as a reminder that the two worlds Harry lives in aren’t entirely separable. Beginning with Book 1, the wizarding and Muggle worlds have entirely different appearances. But starting with Book 5, we begin to realize that there are Squibs and Muggleborn wizards in the Muggle world as well. As Voldemort rises, Muggles are no more protected than magical beings, and Aunt Petunia appears to be aware that the line dividing the magic and non-magical realms is beginning to blur.
Of course, having Harry inside her house puts her entire family’s safety at danger. In order to prevent Voldemort from finding them, Uncle Vernon tries to kick Harry out of the house in Chapter 2. However, Aunt Petunia gets a unique enchanted letter from Howler that just says, “Remember my last, Petunia” (2.217). By the end of Book 5, Harry learns that Professor Dumbledore sent this Howler to remind Aunt Petunia of her promise to provide Harry with a place to reside. Uncle Petunia’s connection to Lily, who was murdered by Voldemort out of love for Harry, offers Harry a unique, age-old magical shield. As long as Harry is living with Lily’s blood relatives, Voldemort will not be able to discover him. So even though they don’t want to, the Dursleys still let Harry into their household. For the first several years of his life, Harry is kept secure thanks to this power.
Is Aunt Harry a witch?

Not to mention Lord Voldemort and the Dementors, which Petunia is well aware are very real threats.
Aunt Petunia had never before in her life observed him with such an expression. Unlike her sister, who had huge, pale eyes that were narrowed in disapproval or wrath, she had large, terrified eyes.
