How long should a hydrangea tree be staked?
To stake or not to stake is the question, with all due respect to Shakespeare and Hamlet. Too many gardeners opt for the former solution when staking trees. Furthermore, staking usually only benefits a newly planted tree for a brief time, even when it does.

I usually take the pegs out of small trees after a year, but larger trees may need them left in place for two years.
