How To Make Tulip Crochet

To ensure that your petal is tight and without gaps or holes, start with a magic ring.

12 double crochets should be made into the loop in the first round. Tighten the middle yarn, then slip stitch the gap shut.

3rd round: SC twice; SC four times. You are now in the second round, at the moment of your first HDC.

You now need to shape the petal’s top so that it has a heart-shaped shape.

1hdc, 1dc into the next stitch, and 1dc into the stitch after that. Next, add a slip stitch to the stitch after making 1dc and 1hdc.

Fasten off, tuck the yarn end inside, and then create a second petal in the same manner. Don’t stop using the yarn after the second petal though; keep going to connect the petals.

The petals should be pressed together, incorrect sides inside. Make sure the hearts’ top slip stitches exactly match up in the center. To join, slip stitch next. In each petals, you must thread your hook through both loops of the stitches:

Using the yarn from the second petal you produced, begin at the base of the flower. As soon as you reach the first HDC of round 3, proceed cautiously and carefully. Continue slip stitching only on the petal closest to you at this point; do not join the top of the petal. To keep the heart shape, slip stitch downward into the centre slip stitch as soon as you get there.

You should end up with something that resembles this after the round:

Make the Inner Disc

The tulip is supported by this uncomplicated disc, which gives it a more natural shape. Attaching the stem is also beneficial. For this flower, we went with a mustard yellow color.

Create a magic loop to start, then work 12 hdc into the ring, joining them with a slip stitch. Create 2hdc into each stitch from round 1 in round 2, then join with a slip stitch. Cut the ends and thread them in.

Stitch the Stem

Take a piece of craft wire that is twice as long as the stem you desire. Mine was trimmed at 18 inches. To transform it into a hairpin, fold it in half and use pliers to clip the bent. Make a chain the same length as your folded wire to use as a stem cover. Make 1hdc into each stitch of the chain. The crochet strip will then be slightly longer than your folded wire. Leave a long tail for stitching after fastening off.

Crochet the Leaf

This section of the pattern is meant to serve as a guide because it’s important to change the chain length to create leaves of various sizes, which will make your tulip display appear more lifelike.

We created the following leaf for this flower:

Until you are one chain from the conclusion of the first round, sc into each chain. Make slip stitches all the way around the point, then work your way down the chain, sc-ing into each stitch.

Round 2: 6 slip stitches, 1 hdc, 22 double crochets, 1 hdc, 1 sc. To create a picot point at the top of the leaf, make 3 chains and slip stitch into the first chain. Then work six sc, one hdc, 22 dc, and one sc down the opposite side. Use a slip stitch to connect. To leave a tail for sewing, snip off your working yarn after weaving in the tail end you started with. The leaf may be sewn on with ease using roughly 8 inches.

Note: If your leaf appears to be a little floppy, add a round 3 and slip stitch all the way around both sides, going back to the leaf’s base before tying off.

Assemble

With the ends of the wire spaced approximately 1/4 inch apart, take it and push it through the inner disc so that it passes through the center.

The top of the wire and the inner disc will move to the base of the inside of the petals as you fully pull the wire through:

Cover the Stem

The stem cover can now be sewed onto the stem using the lengthy tail of green yarn. To prevent jagged wires poking out of your flower stem, be sure to slightly twist your wire together and fold the ends in.

Stitching backwards and forwards through both loops of the stitches on either side of the stem cover, continue sewing down the stem.

You ought to have a small amount left over when you get to the bottom to cover the wire ends. This should appear like a little leaf after you loop it up and connect.
