1. To start making the tissue daffodils, cut a square of yellow tissue paper that is 5 inches by 5 inches in size.
2. After doubling the tissue paper square, cut two rectangles along the fold.
3. Set aside one rectangle for further use. Place a thick marker (or another similar-shaped object) along the end of the other rectangle before rolling the tissue paper around it. The tissue paper should dangle off the marker by roughly half, and it should be tightly wound around the marker as indicated.
4. Fold the second tissue paper rectangle in half using your hands. Then fold it once more, and once more after that.
5. Using the scissors, cut the folded rectangle into the shape of a petal.
6. Unfold the petal shape and cut as shown, about halfway between each petal.
7. Roll the petals around the thick marker by aligning it with the edge of the petal, just as you did with the first piece of tissue paper. Twist the tissue paper’s ends once more (HINT: wet your fingers to make the ends twist more tightly).
8. Trim a portion of a green bendy straw’s short end. After applying a drop of adhesive to the straw’s interior, insert the flower’s stem and let it dry.
9. After the bloom has dried, carefully remove the marker from it. To open each tissue petal, stoop down.

Prepare a Container
Choose a container without drainage holes that is between 3 and 4 inches deep. You don’t want water to drain, and you won’t be adding soil. Spread stones, marbles, or gravel 1 to 2 inches thick along the container’s bottom. Whatever material you decide on, it ought to be spotless, ideally new.
Position the Bulbs
Place the paperwhite bulbs on top of the stone layer with the pointed end up. To close any openings and completely round the bulbs, add another layer of stones. The bulbs’ pointy tips ought should still be visible. Tight spacng is acceptable. In addition to looking better in groups, Paperwhites will be supported and prevented from tumbling over by the snug fit.
Add Water
Fill the container with tap water until the level is just above the base of the lightbulbs. The bulb will produce roots more quickly if the bottom is allowed to soak in water, but if the entire bulb is submerged, it may rot.
Root the Bulbs
The bulbs should be maintained cool at this point, around 65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius). At this stage, the bulbs don’t require any light. But you don’t have to keep your paperwhite bulbs in complete darkness, unlike some other bulbs. It will be simpler to check the water level in an open area.
Check your container every day to see if it requires more water. The level should barely touch the bulb’s base. You won’t need to add a lot of water throughout the rooting phase because the bulbs will gently absorb some water and you will lose some to evaporation.
Move the Pot Into Sunlight
It’s time to transfer the pot to a sunny window after roots start to appear. The more sunlight, the better, but avoid letting the growing bulbs become overheated as this will cause them to stretch and become lanky. Don’t be scared to set the pot next to the windowpane because most windows are chilly in the winter.
Enjoy Your Blooms While They Last
Before fading, paperwhites will bloom for one to two weeks. If you move the pot out of direct sunshine and into a cool area with diffused or indirect light after the flowers start to bloom, the blossoms will remain longer. Plant pots every two weeks in the late fall and early winter for continued flowering.
A flower is made up of how many sheets of tissue paper?
Collecting all of your materials is the first stage. You can print out the list I’ve provided below and bring it with you to the store. Everything is available at Dollar Tree, your favorite retailer, or a craft store.
You will need the following to make these sweet tissue paper flowers:
- stem-cleaning pipecleaners,
- entire sheets of colored tissue paper in various patterns
- a symbol,
- a tiny cup, and
- one set of scissors
Step 1 is to stack your tissue paper sheets. We experimented with various ratios and found that a layer of tissue paper constructed from 8 to 12 sheets made a lovely flower. Tissue paper can be used in one color or several colors.
Step 2: Trace a circle onto your tissue paper using your cup as a template and cut it out through all of the layers of tissue paper. Don’t stress about perfection; it’s not necessary.
Step 3: Carefully cut two tiny holes in the center of your tissue paper circle with the tip of your scissors (the center of your flower). Your pipe cleaner should be looped into the second hole after being inserted into the first hole at one end.
Step 4: To attach the tissue paper rings to the pipe cleaner, twist the pipe cleaner around itself. Your flower’s outer petals and stem will be made up of this.
Step 5: Now for the enjoyable part—making our flower! At the base, where it meets your pipe cleaner, crumple up the top layer of tissue paper. Continue repeating this for every layer, sort of twisting as you go, to create layers that are squeezed together at various angles and have various looks.
Your finished flower will be complete after you reach the bottom layer of the tissue paper ends. If you would like, you can also create leaves.
How are paper whites made to bloom?
- Indoors, grow paperwhites in a shallow (3–4 inch deep) container or bowl without drainage holes.
- Add little loose stones to the container.
- Pressing them into the stones, carefully insert upright paperwhite bulbs into the container.
- Just enough water should be added to cover the bulbs’ bases.
- For 4-6 weeks, keep bulbs in a cool, dark place. When the shoots start to emerge, move to a cool, sunny location.
- Grow paperwhite bulbs in water with a 5% alcohol concentration for shorter, more dependable stems.
- In warm climates, paperwhite bulbs can also be planted outside in the fall.
Don’t you think some vibrant, fragrant flowers would cheer up your home during winter? A relative of jonquils and daffodils, the paperwhite narcissus grows well indoors and bears tiny, fragrant flowers on 12- to 18-inch stems. While yellow and orange types are also available, pure white blossoms are what paperwhites are known for most often.
How to Plant Paperwhites Indoors
The most typical method for growing paperwhites is to bloom them inside in pots. They are particularly well-liked for holiday décor. Crushed rock, pebbles, or other decorative stones should be placed in a shallow container without drainage holes that is 3–4 inches deep. Fill the container with your paperwhite bulbs, pressing their tips firmly into the stones. Just enough water should be added to cover the bulbs’ bases.
How to Force Paperwhites to Bloom
After planting, maintain the bulbs in a cool, dark area with a temperature of 65 degrees for a few weeks until the roots take hold and the shoots begin to emerge. After that, position the containers in a cool, sunny area. You’ll notice little blossoms on the flower stems in 4-6 weeks. Compared to other regularly pushed bulbs, paperwhites have a considerable benefit because they do not require an 8–12 week cold temperature treatment. (To “force” a plant to bloom out of season is to cajole it.) For new gardeners, forcing paperwhites is a great project because it is quick and simple.
Plant Outdoors in Warm Climates
Paperwhites cannot withstand freezing conditions, unlike their daffodil relatives, but they can be grown outdoors in areas with moderate winters. Like other spring-flowering bulbs, they should be planted in the fall. Groups of them grown in gardens or containers look particularly lovely.
A Tip for Growing Paperwhites Indoors
Give your paperwhites a good, stiff drink to keep them from growing big and floppy. Paperwhite bulbs cultivated in water with a 5% alcohol concentration bloom beautifully on stems that are one-third shorter than those planted in water without alcohol. Since transparent liquors typically contain about 40% alcohol (80 proof), the ratio is 1 part liquor to 7 parts water.
How may simple paper daffodils be made?
1. Begin with a 4 square piece of paper.
2. Fold diagonally in half.
3. Once more, fold diagonally in half.
4. And yet again.
5. Snip a hole in the tip and cut into a petal shape. To see the petals, open.
Cut the middle circle at this point to 2 1/2.
7. Dividing the circle in half.
8. Use the glue stick to cover one side of an edge with glue.
9. Construct a cone out of the half-circle.
10. Bring one of the pipe cleaner’s ends down.
11. Add some adhesive to the flower’s center.
12. To assemble, insert the cone into the flower’s aperture, thread the pipe cleaner through it, and then tie the pipe cleaner around the cone to secure it.
How are egg cup daffodils made?
Start by tearing the egg carton’s “cup” components off. To create the appearance of natural ruffles, roughly tear the edges by hand.
Ask kids to look at daffodils in person or in pictures. To create the flower’s center, paint the torn egg cartons with yellow and orange paint.
Tip: When using standard acrylic paints, white paint is opaque and yellow paint is translucent. Therefore, it may appear dull if you paint a yellow tint directly onto a dark egg carton. Prior to painting the yellow color on top, let the white paint completely dry on the surfaces. The yellow will appear brilliant and dazzling in this manner.
Since daffodils have six petals, have kids count them and then help them create a template. Alternatively, you can use our template as a guide by printing it on white or yellow paper. To make each petal more three-dimensional, pinch the middle of each one, as seen in the image below.

What is required to create flowers out of tissue paper?
What you’ll need to construct a single stemmed flower is:
- 1 green pipe cleaner or chenille stem.
- 1 green cardstock or construction paper sheet.
- 3 sheets of colored tissue paper, at least 12 by 6 inches.
- Ruler.
- Scissors.
- Glue.
Cut Wrapping Paper to Size and Place Face Down on Table
Make a rectangle out of the wrapping paper that measures 20 by 26 inches. Sometimes, if your bouquet is really huge, you might wish to use a larger-sized sheet.
Position the Flowers Diagonally Onto the Wrapping Paper
Make sure the tissue paper square completely encloses the wrapper before applying.
A inch of tissue paper should extend over the top of the sharp edge when you slide the tissue paper over it. When the flowers are wrapped, the tissue paper will protrude over the side of the wrapper, giving a lovely contrast to the floral arrangement.
The bouquet should be arranged in your hand. Create a beautiful arrangement by placing the flowers on top and the greenery at the bottom. Although it could be challenging at first, with experience, holding the bouquet in your palm becomes easier.
Verify the arrangement’s flower placement once more and make any required revisions.
Fold the Wrapping Paper Around the Bouquet
Be cautious not to wrinkle the wrapper or tissue paper underneath as you gently fold the left corner of the outer wrapper and tissue paper diagonally toward the center, as seen in the image above.
Secure the Back of the Wrapped Floral Bouquet With Tape
Again encircling the right corner around the flowers, tape it to the back of the package using transparent tape. Using a stapler to seal your flower package is optional.
Tie Pretty String or Raffia Around the Wrapped Bouquet
Give someone your nicely packaged flowers, and watch them smile with happiness. Tie a pretty matching string, ribbon, or piece of raffia around the floral package.

Tissue paper from Dollar Tree was used for this and it worked just well, but if I were to keep it up for too long, I’d definitely choose craft store tissue paper because it has a bit more weight.
Cut the paper…
Just divide the paper into four pieces. You can cut them all at once like I did if you have nice fabric scissors or a paper cutter. It makes things a lot simpler.
You can arrange the colors as you wish, but I went all-out for a cheerful, festive look! For each flower, I used roughly ten pieces.
