- To begin constructing the petals, cut 12 lengthy strips of crepe paper. Crepe paper sheets should be folded lengthwise and folded repeatedly until you obtain a 3–4 inch wide strip.
- There is no need for a template for this step because you want the petals to be slightly varied sizes and shapes. Instead, use our mixed media shears to cut the petal form as shown. These shears are used whenever we need to cut large mixed-media objects, such as cardboard, chipboard, and more, or numerous layers of paper. Since Amplify’s technology detects blade separation when cutting thick materials, unlike standard scissors, you always receive clean cuts—exactly what you need for this job.
- Cut petals into various sizes.
- Initially, begin by cutting petals for the greatest outside margins.
- For the back, cut a circle out of some heavy cardstock or cardboard. There is also no need for a template because no one will see it. A piece of twine or string is hot glued.
- As you carefully move toward the center, begin adhering the petals from the outside edges. We used the same technique for our peach and white flowers. Make a small paper fringe to glue in the center if you want to add stamen like the white bloom.
Making Giant Spider Mums (Wall Decor Inspired by Juju Hats)
The petals for the spider mum will be long and thin, as demonstrated below, using the same techniques as the gigantic paper peonies. With its delicate and feathery appearance, this also made a tribute to the always fashionable juju hat! This enormous spider mother is about two feet wide and light enough to be strung together with twine and a piece of thick cardboard. Consider using a sturdier base, such as cardboard, and picture hanging wire if you want to create a larger version of the wall flower and juju hat inspired craft.
Describe a peony bud.
With buds that bloom into stunning pink, white, or crimson flowers, peonies are among the most eagerly awaited summer flowers. Seeing peonies (Paeonia spp.) with bud burst will undoubtedly leave you unsatisfied. Your peony blooms may be experiencing bud blast of peonies if they wither in the bud.
