I was unaware of what my friends from the Pacific Northwest meant when they frequently complained that California lacked seasons. Winter was freezing, spring was warm, summer was scorching, and fall was when the leaves started to fall. Yes, they are the seasons. Technically speaking, yes, but I now know what they meant when they mentioned dramatic seasons. Zurich’s recent change from winter to spring has been a lovely sight to behold. I was able to trade in my bulky coat, hat, boots, and gloves for a thin sweater and sneakers. The gloomy days became sunny, the brown grass became green, and the flowers sprang into blossom. Consider that. I had forgotten about the flowers until they started to bloom once more. It seems as though the gloomy, chilly city suddenly became vibrant. I’ve also started coming out of hibernation to take advantage of the nicer weather.
I adore the tulips in the neighborhood, but this year I’ve been particularly drawn to the daffodils. Everywhere I turn, there appear to be large swaths of them, so I can’t really gripe. They have such an intriguing shape and a vivid yellow color. In case those gloomy days returned, I made ones that I could look at all year long. They would look adorable, in my opinion, on your Easter table this weekend. Or, if you get to be a guest, they may make a fantastic hostess present. In any case, making these flowers is enjoyable and only requires a few supplies that you probably already have at home.
In my opinion, yellow paper flowers and blue vases are a match made in paper flower heaven, so you might want to pick up some blue Ball jars.
Materials:
- cardboard containers for eggs
- glue
- pipe cleaners in yellow
- scissors
- a yellow color
- flowery green tape
Directions:
1. Remove the egg carton’s central points using sturdy scissors. Additionally, carve out each egg holder by hand.
2. Cut the circular petals from the individual egg holder using your scissors. Make a minimum of 5 petals.
3. Apply yellow paint to the petals’ central points.
4. Glue the central point into the petal after they have dried.
5. Cut a hole in the center of your flower using the tip of your scissors.
6. Insert the pipe cleaner into the opening until it barely reaches the center point’s tip. On the back of the flower, now bend the pipe cleaner at a 90-degree angle.
7. After removing the pipe cleaner, wrap the pipe cleaner in your green flowery tape until you reach the bend.
8. Insert your pipe cleaner once again into the flower’s center. Apply some adhesive to the pipe cleaner and attach the flower.
9. Continue until you get the desired number of blooms!

How may egg boxes be used to create flowers?
1. Cut the egg cartons to size. When cutting, you might need to round the edges slightly to make them resemble petals.
2. Decorate egg cartons. You’ll need 5 egg cartons painted pink and 5 painted purple since we made 5 flowers. Once dried, use a pencil or pen to poke a hole in the bottom of the egg carton.
Put one purple and one pink egg carton together. The pink egg carton should be placed on top of the purple one after applying adhesive to the inside.
3. Fold your pipe cleaner in half so that the folded end is at the base of the flower’s stem. Next, insert the top 2 pieces into the eggcrate holes. Twist the pipe cleaner completely downward to bring the two halves together and strengthen the stem.
Note: If you want the flowers to stand erect, a pipe cleaner is not a firm enough stem to use. You can substitute a paper straw or wooden dowel if you want them to stand up straight. However, we prefer the pipe cleaners because they give the flowers a more realistic, drooping appearance.
4. In the center of the egg carton, glue your button on top of the pipe cleaner. Before adhering the button, give the pipe cleaner a little twist. Here, hot glue will assist in keeping the flower together (adults only should do this part).
5. Create your tin can now! Two distinct colors should be painted on some popsicle sticks. Yellow and blue were colors that we enjoyed. On adhere them to the can, we used glue dots. Kids can use these with ease and they are ideal!
6. Next, put your egg carton flowers into the can along with some paper filler.
7. To complete your can, tie a big or tiny piece of ribbon around it. Isn’t this so lovely to look at? We are thrilled with the outcome! Receiving this bouquet of flowers for Mother’s Day or a birthday will make mom or grandma very happy.
How are simple daffodils made?
1. Begin with a 4 square piece of paper.
2. Fold diagonally in half.
3. Once more, fold diagonally in half.
4. And yet again.
5. Snip a hole in the tip and cut into a petal shape. To see the petals, open.
Cut the middle circle at this point to 2 1/2.
7. Dividing the circle in half.
8. Use the glue stick to cover one side of an edge with glue.
9. Construct a cone out of the half-circle.
10. Bring one of the pipe cleaner’s ends down.
11. Add some adhesive to the flower’s center.
12. To assemble, insert the cone into the flower’s aperture, thread the pipe cleaner through it, and then tie the pipe cleaner around the cone to secure it.
How can foam egg cartons be used to create flowers?
Divide an egg carton into its component compartments, and then use each to create the center of a five-petal flower. The Styrofoam egg carton top can be cut into petals and glued around the central cup. The flower can be painted with acrylics or a single color with spray paint.
