Every year as Easter gets closer, I look for projects that my daughters can make to present as gifts to their teachers. Even though not everyone observed Easter, we all enjoy making crafts that are enjoyable for our kids. After browsing the internet, I’m sharing a DIY Duck Tape Tulip Pen craft that just kept standing out to me.
Since its early days as a silver tape used by handymen, duck tape has come a LONG way! I found a ton of options for patterns in the Pain section of our local Walmart; if you can’t find it there, check the Crafts section as it occasionally appears there. The colors are gorgeous and vibrant right now as we celebrate spring, but they will change with the seasons and special occasions.
DIY Duck Tape Tulip Pen
You’ll need these tools:
- DIY tulip-colored duck tape in green, yellow, and white is also available.
- chopping block
- Scissors
- a pocketknife
- Pen
Instructions:
Cut a piece of green Duck Tape, then roll it onto the pen, to start. From the bottom of the cap’s end to its top, Duck Tape should be applied.
The next step is to cut a piece of yellow Duck Tape, roll it onto the pen, and leave the end with 3/4″ of extra space. Pinch the yellow Duck Tape’s ends together in opposite directions.
Duck Tape Petals
- The white Duck Tape was cut into five strips.
- That strip should be folded in half, leaving a 1/2-inch portion at the end.
- Then use scissors to cut it into a petal form after smoothing it down. At the ends where the tape is single-sided, where it frequently sticks to the scissors, you might find it simpler to cut with an exacto knife.
- Cut a 1-inch slice out of the center of the petal, then cross its ends over one another.
- Continue doing this five more times to create six petals.
Applying the Petals
Simply scatter the petals of each tulip as you now wrap each one around the pen. Three petals will make up the first row, and the remaining three will fill in the spaces. To conceal the ends of the white tape, cut a single length of green Duck Tape and wind it around the pen at the base of the petals.
Duck Tape Tulip Leaves
- Duck Tape in green, cut into 11-inch lengths
- Leave a 1/2 piece at the end after folding in half.
- Then use scissors to cut it into a petal form after smoothing it down.
- Roll onto the pen exactly where the end of the cap will be at the writing end.
- To conceal any edges, cut a single piece of green Duck Tape, and wind it around the pen at the base of the leaves.

- Strip some duct tape.
- Make four identical squares out of your strip.
- Create triangles out of your squares, leaving some sticky residue on the bottom.
- To create your center, roll one of your triangles.
- Up until your flower is finished, roll your triangles one at a time around your center piece.
