Kotetsu and Barnaby: in a relationship?
Barnaby is partnered with Kotetsu. Barnaby didn’t like Kotetsu at first and thought of him as a liability rather than a partner. Before Kotetsu earned his trust and started using his name, he nicknamed him “old guy.” Even now, he has agreed to go by the moniker “Bunny” or “Bunny-chan” given to him by Kotetsu. When they think they have identified Barnaby’s parents’ murderer, their trust is put into action. Barnaby begins to get fixated on eliminating him, but Kotetsu teaches him to put aside his desire for vengeance and reminds him that he is a hero whose mission is to aid others and that he has allies who would support him through his suffering.
Being more sensible than Kotetsu, Barnaby has a completely different mentality and set of behaviors from him. He can now complete Kotetsu’s words before the latter can. When Maverick murders Samantha and tricks Barnaby into forgetting that Kotetsu is Wild Tiger and accusing Kotetsu of the crime, their relationship is further put to the test. In his quest for vengeance, Barnaby succeeds in recalling Kotetsu’s true identity, and the two work together to take down Maverick. Even after Kotetsu begins to lose his powers, Barnaby and Kotetsu continue to be partners because they enjoy working together and think they perform best as a team.
