If you want to plant huge drifts of daffodils, the most cost-effective approach to buy is daffodil/narcissi 25Kg nets. To create a natural appearance, simply scatter and plant them where they land. A 25Kg net will contain 400–450 bulbs roughly.

How many bulbs of daffodil weigh a kilogram?
Although inexpensive and plentiful, are LIDL daffodil bulbs any good? I decided it was too late in the season to go planting it up after building the raised bed in my front garden. I had planned to leave it fallow for the remainder of the year, but I changed my mind after realizing that some Spring color would be good.
Ten Euro For 5kg of LIDL Daffodil Bulbs
A bag is currently available for 9.99. 5kg of bulbs are contained in each bag. For instance, thegardenshop.ie charges 8.15 for 3 kg of mixed daffodils. According to their estimate of 16 bulbs per kg, their bulbs are larger and more developed. The quality of the Lidl daffodil bulbs is mixed, as one might anticipate. There are a few fully formed ones among the group, although they tend to be small or average in size. I think there were about 120 bulbs in the non-recyclable plastic mesh bag overall (hessian would be so much better). Of these LIDL daffodil bulbs, about 25 were damaged and already rotting away.
The rotting bulbs cannot be planted. They must be thrown away because they might be contaminated and cause others to decay. The brown bin is the best place to dispose of them. Keep all bulbs out of the reach of children and animals; narcissus can be fatal if consumed.
Planting in Clumps
Daffodil bulbs should be planted in clumps because this is how they naturally develop in the wild. I buried some of them approximately 15 cm beneath the surface of the ground and strewn them about the raised bed. I made a lot of leaf mould a year or so ago, and it’s all over this specific raised bed.
Speaking of Leaf Mold
The best time to collect leaves for making leaf mold is right now. Nothing could be simpler. Simply gather as many leaves as you can and pile them; chicken wire fencing works best for containment. Put some damp hessian sacks on top; you can get these for free at the headquarters of the coffee roasting company Java Republic in the Blancharstown industrial complex. They always leave free bags of used grinds and mounds of hessian sacks outside their adjacent café.
Progress
Although winter has arrived, I will continue to monitor the bulbs’ development and report on their success or failure in the following months. As the raised bed I made starts to take shape, I will upload some pictures.

The displayed weights are accurate as of the weigh-in date. However, when they dry up, daffodil and narcissus bulbs gradually lose weight. Once the bulbs are planted, the moisture that was lost is replenished.
What number of bulbs are in the sacks and bags? The first thing to keep in mind is that we sell bulbs in larger sizes, known as 14/16’s (i.e. over 14cms. in diameter). This is because each bulb will most likely produce two or even three blossoms, and because they are larger, they will take root more powerfully wherever they are planted. Around 25 daffodil bulbs fit into a 2 kg bag, while more than 300 fit into a 25 kg (1/2 Cwt) sack. Considering that narcissus tend to be a little smaller, one should anticipate 30 to 35 bulbs every 2kg, or 400 per sack. Since Cheerfulness and Actaea are even smaller, one may fit up to 45 of them in a 2 kilogram bag and 550 in a sack.

The quantity of daffodil bulbs in a container
The methods I use to raise daffodils for daffodil exhibitions are described below. You can most likely increase the quantity of bulbs in a pot for regular growing.
It is advisable to use 1 gallon pots for miniatures and little bulbs and 2 gallon pots for standard-sized daffodils. Drain used pots after cleaning them with Clorox.
The ratio of perlite to sterilized soil in the soil mixture I’ve created is 1 part perlite to 3 parts soil. A small amount of 0-10-10 fertilizer should be placed in the pot’s bottom over some dirt. Make sure the fertilizer doesn’t come in contact with the bulb. Try to position the bulb so that it is about 1/3 of the way from the pot’s top. The new roots will force the bulbs above earth if you plant too closely to the surface. One medium-sized bulb should be the sole one in a gallon pot. Put 3 to 4 bulbs, depending on their size, in a 2 gallon container. Plant five bulbs, perhaps, if the bulbs are on the little side.
Dump the soil and carefully replant the bulb or bulbs in the pot at a lower level if you notice one sticking up above the earth. I want that display bulbs not touch each other. My general placement guideline is to space them the same distance from the pot’s side and at least as far apart as the diameter of the bulbs.
After November 1st, give the pots a lot of water because it takes time for the peat moss in the super soil to become completely saturated. Every day for the first week, drink water. Give pots that have dried out on top extra water.
Since daffodils like acidic soil and our tap water is alkaline, you should add approximately 1 teaspoon of Ironite (TM) for 1 gallon pots and 2 teaspoons for 2 gallon pots. This maintains the acidity of the soil.
After the plant has bloomed, sprinkle the pot with 5-10-10 fertilizer. It also aids in developing the bulb for the plant’s bloom the next year.
I utilize that soil for other plants instead of daffodils if a daffodil dies in one of the pots.

Narcissus enjoy a summertime bake. They thrive in pots and containers that are deep enough for their roots to spread out.
Turn the pot on its side and store it out of the way six weeks after blossoming. In the fall, turn it back up to begin a new season of bloom. After drying them off, cleaning them, and storing them in a nylon stocking or paper bag with a label in a dry location until fall, bulbs can be kept in a pot for two to three years.
If you reside in a region with harsh winters (temperatures below freezing), you will need to keep your potted daffodils inside of a greenhouse or garage. Bring the pots out of storage, set them where they will receive full sun, and water them well when the temperature does not go below freezing.
