The two largest tulip farms, Roozengarde and Tulip Town, do not allow dogs. They are enjoyable for human visitors, but dogs are not permitted.
Do keep an eye out for neighborhood residents who are selling parking near to large farms in their own fields or driveways. Some of them provide you the opportunity to capture a picture of your dog among the tulips while avoiding the no-dog zones on the large farms. Just make sure the owner is okay with you bringing your dog.
Avoid scheduling your travel for a Saturday or Sunday. You’re better off going early in the morning or on a weekday because traffic can get ridiculous.
Do allow yourself enough time to travel about and search for smaller farms without dog-free regulations.
We took the majority of our photos there. It may require some searching to locate the tulips because the farmers switch up which fields contain them each year. The Tulip Festival website’s maps are a fantastic place to start.
Remember that you and your dog are visitors on active farms. Maintain a leash on your dog, and bring poop bags. (And water, of course!)

Can dogs be brought to the Oregon Tulip Festival?
We traveled to Oregon in April primarily to take part in the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. Although the exact dates change from year to year, the festival lasts from the end of March until the end of April. Visit around the latter half of the festival season for the greatest blossoms. The festival is pet-friendly and is held on more than 40 acres of flower-filled grounds. Rainbow hot air balloons are launched on the weekends to give more color to the scene.
Important Advice: Purchase a season pass to have access to the tulips outside regular business hours. The season pass allows entry before and after the festival for a whole vehicle. Parking is scarce without a season pass, and it gets brutally crowded by 9 a.m. By the time we left the tulips, there were a lot of people in the fields and a big queue of automobiles waiting to enter the parking lot. The commotion overshadowed the peaceful blossoms. With each visit, we arrived about 6:30 am and left by 9 am.
Don’t worry if you missed the Tulip Festival; the Swan Island Dahlias are equally lovely and pet-friendly. From August through September, the fields are accessible to the general public. The 40 acres of the Dahlia farm are home to more than 360 different kinds of vibrant flowers. We were pleasantly pleased by how tranquil and quiet the fields were when we went in the late summer.
We chose to stay in Silverton, Oregon so that we could arrive at the festival before daybreak and enjoy breakfast in the charming downtown area after touring the tulip fields. The Main Street Bistro & Gather is one of the best pet-friendly restaurants in Silvertown. Examine the menus and choose a table outside as they are right next to one another.
Are dogs allowed at the Skagit Valley Tulip Fesitval?
Dogs were often not permitted at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival until this year.
Dogs are not permitted in the gardens of the two biggest and most popular fields, RoozenGaarde and Tulip Town.
However, a new field started working in 2022. Well-behaved dogs on leads are permitted in Garden Rosalyn.

The greatest time to visit tulip fields in the Portland, Oregon area is during the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. The event is hosted every year at the 40-acre tulip farm known as Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, Oregon. The Wooden Shoe Farm is a fantastic location for viewing tulip fields in the spring and is well worth the trek from Portland!
I made sure I didn’t miss the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival since we were unable to travel to the Netherlands the previous spring. (Can you blame us for choosing Paris over Amsterdam?) But as a result, I was quite eager to see some tulips! I mean, how could you not, especially after learning (later) during your visit to Amsterdam that the Dutch Golden Age’s economic collapse was caused by tulip bulbs.
Fun Fact: Tulips were originally from central Asia but didn’t find popularity until they reached the Netherlands.

How much does admission to Texas Tulip cost?
In North Texas, what began as a fascination with the prime-time soap opera “Dallas” about 30 years ago has since blossomed into something much larger. Pieter and Petra Koeman were resolved to realize their goal in the United States despite opposition from everyone they knew.
Before we began this procedure five years ago, neither of us had ever visited the United States, according to Petra.
The Koemans entered the moving process with just one goal in mind: finding the ideal real estate agent, despite having no prior knowledge of Texas other than what they had seen on television.
“I told him we were coming from the Netherlands and intended to create a tulip farm,” Pieter recalled, “and we came across a guy by the name of Kelly Peace. I believe he believed it to be a joke.
Nothing happened despite extensive phone conversations with their real estate agent about their goals and expectations; instead, nothing happened until Pieter and Petra appeared unannounced in DFW one day.
To be quite honest, I was initially a little wary since I believed it might have been a joke or a con, said Peace, 50.
However, the Koemans dispelled Peace’s doubts after several trips to the country.
They returned possibly six months after their initial departure, according to Peace. “At that point, I understood they were taking this seriously.
According to Pieter, “[Peace] assisted us with everything, from finding a good bank to a lawyer for our immigration process.
We had great luck in locating him.

Finding a reliable realtor to work with consistently was just half the battle.
When looking for the ideal place for their tulips, the Dutch immigrants were concerned about Texas’ notoriously erratic weather. The Koemans came to the conclusion that Pilot Point would be the best location for their vision after conducting thorough research.
In numerous regions near Dallas, Pieter remarked, “We completed a lot of analysis that was necessary for the growth of flowers, from weather history to soil stability.
The Koemans were no strangers to tulip growing even if they were unfamiliar with American nature and climate. Pieter, who comes from a long history of family farmers, spent many years selling tulips back in the Netherlands before moving to the United States.
I continued to work with flowers in the Netherlands, but Pieter noted that I was mostly selling to wholesalers and that this wasn’t rewarding for me.
There is nothing really like this in the south, so I think what we’re doing here is distinct,” Pieter remarked.
Pieter grows and looks after the entire tulip fields personally, along with just one other native Dutch farmer who now calls Texas home.
The Koemans have produced a distinctive and cost-effective experience for North Texas residents with a $5 entrance fee, a price of $2.50 per tulip stem (though picking is not required to enter), and free parking.
The Koemans work hard to keep their company strategy affordable, but they also make use of free marketing opportunities on various social media sites. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have all demonstrated their value in promoting their still-young company.
Olivia Rodriguez, a 23-year-old student at Collin College, said, “I actually learned about it through a Facebook post that was going viral with these photographs of enormous tulip fields, so I drove about 45 minutes to see it for myself. By the time I left, I had spent about $40 on tulips alone.
Despite a recent rise in attendance, especially among young people, the Koemans maintain that they are simply pleased to share the experience they have created with others.
“We are not thrilled because of the money. When I see people snapping pictures for Instagram and simply enjoying the tulips in our fields, Petra added, I feel better than when I see them making purchases.
However, during the tulip season, which lasts from mid-February to late-March, profit is by no means their first priority. By selling bulbs on their online web show, Pieter and Petra continue their business all year long. All of the bulbs are imported straight from the Netherlands. In December, they also host a Christmas tulip fair.
Petra remarked after returning from a call enquiring about the field’s operating hours, “We still get calls every single day asking if the actual fields are open.
Pieter stated, “Unfortunately, it’s only a brief five to six week period starting in February.
In just a few short years since moving to North Texas, the Koemans have established a booming draw that is expanding quickly.
They firmly believed in their own version of the American ideal, but it suddenly came crashing down, according to Peace.
When I first went to the fields, I saw it for myself, and I almost started crying.
Despite 30 years of planning and patience, the Koemans are still confident in their decision to leave everything behind and start a new life in the United States. In reality, Pieter and Petra intend to settle permanently in North Texas, despite having drawn inspiration initially from J.R. and the cast at Southfork Ranch many years ago.
Pieter and Petra agreed: “Everyone here has embraced us with open arms, our kids like it, and we’re simply so pleased to finally be here.”
