There are considerable changes between the fountain and bottled varieties of Stubborn Soda Root Beer, which is an interesting fact. A serving of the bottle version has 25 grams of sugar. The fountain serving, on the other hand, contains 28 grams of sugar. Strange, huh? It only gets stranger. A 12 ounce serving is used in the bottle form, whereas an 8 ounce serving is used in the fountain version. The bottle has 25g per 12 ounces, while the fountain contains 42g per 12 ounces. The difference can be discovered in the list of ingredients. The bottle also contains Stevia, but the fountain version just has cane sugar as a sweetener.
The flavor was a step up from your typical root beer from the vending machine. It has a caramel/brown sugar body that is quite sweet. There are sarsaparilla undertones (might be wintergreen, but it’s faint) as well as a deep vanilla flavor that lingers. Overall, it’s a tasty root beer with plenty of carbonation. Because of the excessive sweetness and lack of bite, I give it a 6.7 out of 10.
