In The Toy That Saved Christmas, Mr. Nezzer makes an appearance as “Wally P. Nezzer,” the brother of Nebby K., who now owns a toy factory and is again helped by Mr. Lunt as his sidekick. He portrays “Ebenezer Nezzer,” a reference to Ebenezer Scrooge, who runs a theater and an Easter Egg factory, respectively, in Victorian-era London in both The Star of Christmas and An Easter Carol. In addition to these roles, Mr. Nezzer also makes appearances in VeggieTales videos as well-intentioned authorities. Examples include his roles as King Xerxes of Persia in Esther… The Girl Who Became Queen, as Olaf the lead Viking in Lyle the Kindly Viking, and as the Mayor of Dodgeball City in The Ballad of Little Joe and Moe and the Big Exit.
Nezzer didn’t appear in VeggieTales in the House or VeggieTales in the City because DreamWorks, the company that produced the show, thought that Nezzer’s voice was based on stereotypes of African Americans. They then decide to swap him out for a character named Ichabeezer who has a somewhat similar appearance but a different voice. As the proprietor of the theater the Veggies use for their new production, Mr. Nezzer finally made a comeback for The VeggieTales Show. - Since his acting debut, Mr. Nezzer has played characters who frequently work in factories, which has become a running joke.
