Fill your pot 3/4″ below the rim with the mixture. With the back of your spoon, gently pat it down.
Take each leaf and gently press it into the mixture until it stands up on its own. With your fingers, gently press the mixture around the leaf bases.
After you’ve inserted all of the leaves, place the pot in a warm, but not direct, area of your home. (A window facing north is ideal.) Maintain a moist but not wet consistency in the mixture. The roots will shrivel and die if they are exposed to too little water, but they will also shrivel and die if they are exposed to too much water. Make use of your common sense and your testing finger!

In around 4-6 weeks, each leaf will take root (and eventually become its own separate plant) if the propagation is effective.
To test them, gently tug on the leaves to check if there is any resistance.

After that, you’ll need to separate each new cluster into its own pot and remove your ‘false’ rescue plant arrangement.

Snake plants are perfect for the less-than-careful gardener. For weeks at a time, you can go without watering them. Your snake plant will easily endure 3 weeks or more without water, even in hot, arid conditions, so you won’t have to bother about all the methods to water houseplants while on vacation.
Why is my snake plant mushy?
Overwatering is the leading cause of mushy Snake Plant leaves in 99 percent of cases. Sansevierias don’t require a lot of water, so even if you’re careful, their soil can rapidly become saturated. The roots will decay, and the leaves will become soft and mushy as a result.
If you notice mushy leaves on your Snake Plant, the first thing you should do is examine the quantity of moisture in the soil and the root system’s health. If the soil is extremely damp, remove it from the plant’s roots and completely replenish the potting mix. How do you fix a floppy snake plant?
If your watering schedule appears to be in order, it’s possible that the soil is just storing too much water and needs to be drained.
Repot your plant in cactus or succulent potting mix to fix this. This is a fantastic Snake plant potting mix that I’ve used several times with wonderful results. Alternatively, mix half perlite and a little compost with standard potting soil for added fertility.
Remove as much of the old soil as possible while repotting, and use a large enough pot (see below). When you water, water should immediately come out of the bottom drainage holes, indicating that the soil isn’t effectively drained.
If you pour a cup of water into the soil and it absorbs a lot of water, it’s usually a sign that you need improved drainage.

Your initial reaction may be to give your plant a lot of water, but this will not solve the problem. Instead, start watering your snake plant frequently and in small amounts. You don’t want to shock the plant or worse, induce the decay of the already injured leaves. Water your plant once a day for a few days, then stretch your watering out until you’re only watering once every two weeks during the growing season.
Scarring
Scarring is the most common cause of your snake plant looking rough around the edges and having brown damaged scars on the margins of the leaves. Snake plants are readily scarred if knocked or relocated, so if your plant is in a high-traffic area of your home, this could be the problem. Make sure your snake plant is not in a place where children or pets can get to it.
