I purchased it, brought it home, and spread it. The technique of growing new plants from a mother plant is known as plant propagation. The rhizomes (the portion of the plant having roots) of Stromanthes are divided, then they are potted up in fresh containers.
By the end of the day, I had six tiny Stromanthe Triostar plants and one mother plant that was still fairly large despite being smaller than when I had first purchased it. The plants all survived the transfer, with the exception of one, so I waited to see if they would. Next, I listed my five miniature plants on Etsy for $25 each, excluding delivery (which was still a massive undercut for the general Etsy prices for this plant). They made me about $110 when I sold them, and I still have the mother plant at home, so it will continue to grow.
