Two, with succulents like string of pearl or string of dolphin growing in tight clusters, it might be difficult to tell if the soil has dried up or not, even with a moisture meter. You can leave them bone-dry and water them from the bottom to avoid over-watering.
How often should you water a string of pearls plant?
Overwatering can kill string of pearls, so make sure you just give them just enough water. Once every two weeks is the recommended amount. Check if the soil is half an inch (1.2cm) dry before watering again to ensure you don’t overwater your plant.

Use a soil mix that is properly aerated. If you plant your string of pearls in a readymade succulent or cactus potting mix, the soil will have the proper amount of pumice or perlite. Adding pumice or perlite to ordinary potting soil can also aid in aeration and allow excess water to drain.
How do I know if my string of pearls need water?
Pay attention to your watering habits to determine whether your String of Pearls are shriveling due to underwatering or overwatering. How frequently do you water your plant? If your String of Pearls are shriveling and you just water once a month or less, they are plainly underwatered.
Increase the frequency of watering to once every two weeks and see the results. Instead of a little mist, give the plant a substantial sip to allow the water to reach the roots. After a decent drink, the plant should begin to perk up.

Don’t be scared to give the plant a good drink of water; let the water to reach the plant’s roots so it can absorb it from there.
I sprinkle infant plants and String of Pearls cuttings frequently, at least once a week, and sometimes more, until they are rooted and established, based on my own experience with String of Pearls. Once the plant is rooted, I stop spraying it and begin watering it more deeply but less frequently. The more grown and established the plants are, the more water they can store in their leaves, reducing the frequency with which you must water them. When you do water, though, make sure you water deeply and thoroughly.
