LIGHT

When you go to the supermarket to buy a plant, the labels are frequently deceiving. Plant labels include some truth, but they are frequently misleading!

Sanseveria cylindrica, like all Sanseverias, is frequently advertised as a “low light” plant.

This isn’t to say that they require dim lighting.

It just indicates that they withstand it better than plants that aren’t branded as such.

Sansevierias, on the other hand, thrive in direct sunlight. I have three of these plants…okay, four of them. This plant genus fascinates me and I can’t seem to get enough of it. Every day, they all get at least a small bit of direct sunlight.

My argument is that you shouldn’t put a Sansevieria cylindrica in a gloomy area if you want it to be truly lovely.

It may be able to survive in those conditions, but it will not thrive and finally die.

Sansevieria is not a fast-growing plant.

Maintain in mind that if you keep them in darker circumstances, they will grow much more slowly.

WATERING

This is how I water all of my succulents, including Sansevieria cylindrica and other Sansevieria types.

I prefer to immerse the entire saucepan thoroughly.

Normally, I would take them to a sink and thoroughly soak the pot before draining it.

FERTILIZER

Although I would like to fertilize my Sansevieria cylindrica plants on a regular basis, I must admit that I am sometimes lazy!

When I do fertilize, though, I prefer to use a specific fertilizer.

I use Schultz Cactus fertilizer on all of my succulents (and one cactus) at home.

It has a low-nitrogen composition that is ideal for succulents and cacti.

It’s also convenient because you may use it whenever you water!

As a result, every time you water, you can fertilize.

Your plants won’t mind if you forget to fertilize on a regular basis…but don’t completely disregard it. Just remember to cease fertilizing your plant throughout the winter months when it isn’t growing.

Fertilize only when the plants are actively growing, not when they are dormant.

SOIL BLENDS

For succulents or cactus, I rarely use potting mix straight from the bag anymore. There are several great blends out there, but I prefer to make my own.

Starting with either the Miracle Gro Cactus, Palm, and Citrus mix or the Hoffman Cactus and Succulent mix is a good place to start.

I prefer to add 1/4 pumice to either of these mixes for succulents like Sansevieria cylindrica.

You’ll be surprised at how much better your soil drainage and plant root oxygenation will be as a result of this.

I prefer to mix 1 part pumice with 3 parts potting mix or so.

Don’t be scared to experiment with different ratios until you find one that works for you.

Why are the tips of my Sansevieria cylindrica turning brown?

Many indoor environments are drier than houseplants want. Excessive water loss from the leaves is a common cause of brown tips on snake plants due to dry air.

While snake plants don’t require a lot of humidity to thrive, you should strive for at least 40% humidity. I use a digital hygrometer to check the humidity of the air surrounding my houseplants on a regular basis.

Maintain The Size Of Your Snake Plant

Snake plants stretch out from a rhizome beneath the earth to grow in size. New leaves will gradually widen the plant’s spread, and you’ll soon notice that it has entirely filled the container it is in. This can cause your snake plant to become root bound, compromising its health and stunting its growth.

In relation to the size of the plant as a whole, snake plant roots can be rather large. A plant that appears to be at ease in its container may have roots that are firmly coiled around the inside of the container.
